CITIZENS MEMORIAL ELEMENTARY SCHOOL
BULLETIN #3
New Bulletin Format
I hope you all had an enjoyable fall weekend!
This is a new communication format I will be using for sending out information.
I want to thank everyone for a great school opening. You have all been amazing and I appreciate everything you do! I am looking forward to keeping the momentum rolling as we are now fully engaged in the 2014-2015 school year.
Time seems to be moving right along and we are already in the fourth week of school and this week will be our first full week of school!

SCHOOL NEWS & INFORMATION
CITIZENS CHARACTER COUNTS
The initiative was presented to our parents at the Citizens Community Cafe on Friday, September 12th and parents thought it was a great initiative and are behind it. They like focusing on the positive and encouraging our students to do their best.
Each Faculty and Staff Member should have an id pouch with their name on it to keep their cash on hand to reward quickly and on the spot. If you have not received your id pouch, they are located in the office. Please see Brenda.
September 26th will the opening day of the school store.
Community support has been great!!
SCHOOL IMPROVEMENT TEAM
Focus: School Improvement Plan Review
PTO and Parent Engagement
The PAC will also be meeting Wednesday evening at 6:30 @ WMS Hamlet.
Friday was our kick off for the Citizens Community Cafe. It was attended by a group of parents and families, as well as school community members. The focus of the cafe was the school's Citizens Character Counts initiative.
The school will be hosting the Community Cafe every friday morning. We are planning to have a focus for each week and also have monthly guest speakers/presenters from the community.
This week's focus: The Citizen's Lending Library
September's Presentation: Citizens Memorial After School Program presented by Jen White and Charlotte
I have received some feedback from teachers who would like the opportunity to attend the cafe. We can try to vary the schedule to allow all community members (parents, families, teachers, community partners, district representatives...etc.) the opportunity to participate.
New Members to Our Community
Illeana Valentin-Lopez is our new social worker. Illeana is a great addition to our school community. She has already begun to engage with our students, teachers, staff and families. Since she has been assigned to service the children at Citizens Memorial Illeana has jumped right in feet first!
Denise Phillips has a very unique position and opportunity at Citizens Memorial. She has accepted the position to teach literacy and library. She has spent the past week organizing, cleaning, planning and, of course, teaching. Citizens Memorial happens to be the elementary school she attended as a student.
Ms. Cote is the newest addition to our team of lunch monitors. She has been with us for a little over a week and has been doing a wonderful job!
Supplies
Please email me any supply requests you may have. You can also leave a note with Brenda and she will get it to me.
