Project Cornerstone Reader Training - DATE CHANGE
Mandatory Reader Training Thursday, April 30th at 8:40AM OR 6:30PM in the Teachers Lounge.
Since it is our last month to train and read in the classrooms, we need everyone to attend ONE of these meetings -
see you there!
Teacher Appreciation Week is next week!
The PTA is organizing a few special treats: We will be offering a catered lunch for our teachers and staff on Thursday, May 7th with a gift card drawing.
We are asking parents to donate gift cards to offer to the teachers and staff during the luncheon. Our goal is to collect 35-40 gift cards in the $10 - $25 range and we are asking parents to turn in gift cards to the office safe before Monday, May 4th.
Since we are asking all children to write a letter of appreciation to their teacher during Project Cornerstone, please consider thanking all the non-classroom staff or other teachers that affect your child(ren)’s life by writing a letter or expressing your gratitude in your way.
We need volunteers to help with setting up, during and after the luncheon. Please help! Contact Maria Dinard at mmdinard@gmail.com.
Thank you,
Castro PTA

Thursday, May 7th is Teacher Appreciation Day
Castro’s PTA is organizing activities to honor the unique relationship between families and the teachers and administration, and we also encourage each family to show their appreciation in your special way.
Castro’s PTA will offer a catered staff lunch on May 7th. Dara Tynefield has graciously offered to help with decorations for the lunch, but we need a volunteer to coordinate the luncheon.
At the luncheon, we hold a staff gift-card raffle. We are asking for parent-donated gift cards to be delivered to the office from now until Monday, May 3rd. Our goal is to collect 35+ parent-donated gift cards (Safeway, Starbucks, Amazon, etc.) in the $10-25 range to offer to the staff of teachers, administration, and all the people who work tirelessly to make a great school environment.
The children will be asked to write letters of appreciation to be given to all the teachers in the next 2-3 weeks.
We looking for volunteers to help make this year’s PTA organized Teacher Appreciation Day special!
· We are looking for a co-ordinator to help with the letters from the children and gift card collection
· We are looking for a lunch coordinator as well as helpers before, during and after the luncheon
If you would like to help with the luncheon or with the letters and gift-cards, send an email to mmdinard@gmail.com.

Día del Niño/Día del Libro
Coming soon... Castro PTA sponsored Día del Niño/Día del Libro will be held on Sunday, May 17th on the school blacktop. This event is a Latin American celebration honoring the child, and which has been coupled with the celebration of literacy. Every year, our parent volunteers and our partners at Open Doors organize a party where they set up games, music and each child gets FREE books and prizes. We want to express a special thank you to Open Doors and to Castro parents, Brad Davis, Nicole Pillatsch, with the assistance of Trish Gilbert, Tim Downey and Amber Daughtry and William Buitron, who have volunteered to organize this magical family and community event. But they will need YOUR help! Stay tuned for more information.
If you are interested in helping, please email Brad Davis at davis@enrock.net.
