What We Are Learning This Week

Language Arts: This week,we will be reading Salt In His Shoes by Delores Jordan. We will write summaries of the story and learn more about figurative and literal phrases. In spelling this week, we will be studying words with the consonants ph, gh, ck, and ng. Our spelling test will be on Friday, April 15th.

Social Studies: We will continue our unit on Citizenship. Students will identify various United States symbols such at the Liberty Bell, Mound Rushmore, the Star Spangled Banner, American Flag and the Statue of Liberty.

Math: This week we will work on telling time to the nearest 5 minutes. We will also begin to get into measurement to the nearest inch as well.

Science: This week as we wrap up matter, we will review how matter can go through chemical and physical changes. When we are done, we will conduct a fun experiment that will allow us to go through the steps of the scientific process.

Spring Extra Curricular Activites

If your child is involved in any sport or activity during the April, May or June, please send me a schedule so that I can try my best to come watch him/her play or perform! These activities can include soccer, softball, baseball, dance recitals, piano recitals, and so much more! Thank you!

Please send in headphones or earbuds!

Parents, we are asking that each student bring a pair of headphones or ear buds to keep at school if they don't have them here already. When using technology such as ipads or computers, it makes it much less distracting for other students when each child has his/her own pair and can focus on their assignment instead of background noise. Please send a pair of headphones or earbuds in with your child on Monday, it is best to keep them safe in a clear ziplock bag labeled with your child's name. Feel free to send in an extra pair for a child in need, thank you SO much!

We are in need of a volunteer for ALL FOUR DAYS of this coming week. As a reminder, our lunch is from 11:45-12:15 and your child's teacher appreciates you coming to help! THANK YOU IN ADVANCE!
