PRINCIPAL PRESS
Dear Kelly Families~
Fall is definitely in the air and we are thankful for the lower temperatures as they begin to cool off our classrooms. Teachers and students have begun to dig into their grade level standards and assessments are being completed with each student. We had our first all school assembly on Friday where we kicked off our “On our way to have it all” theme.
We look forward to visiting with all of you at our October parent/teacher conferences on October 13th, 14th and 18th. Watch for an email this week with information regarding the Sign Up Genius for conferences. You’ll have an option to sign up for a face to face or virtual conference this year.
Beginning in October we will be inviting families to join us for our monthly class meetings and RED (Read Every Day) events. We are so relieved that we can get back to welcoming you into the school for these special events. You'll find all the details below.
Thank you for a great start to the school year!

PEDESTRIAN SAFETY & TRAFFIC FLOW
NOTE: TRAFFIC ONLY FLOWS ONE DIRECTION IN THE NORTH PARKING LOT. Please adhere to following this traffic flow pattern at all times. Traffic should only flow into the north lot from Oak or 29th and out onto Cherry Street before, after, and during the school day. The same traffic pattern must be also be followed on early dismissal days as well. Please do not exit the north parking lot onto Oak Street. This slows down traffic by causing congestion and puts our students who walk across the parking lot at risk.
Thanks in advance for your cooperation in advance.

PARENTS LEAD
Talk
Talking openly and honestly with your kids is one of the most effective ways to support their behavioral health. Whether it’s everyday topics like friends and school, or more serious topics like substance use, anxiety, or depression, it’s never too early to start the conversation. As your kids grow, your conversations may change, but they will always be centered on keeping them happy, healthy, and safe. Keep your conversations relaxed, friendly, non-judgmental, and genuine. And most importantly, be a good listener.

Monitor
Parenting isn’t always easy, especially in today’s world. The good news is there are steps that can help protect your kids as they grow older. Effectively monitoring your kids through
every stage in their lives is one important way to reduce their risk of becoming involved in
potentially harmful situations or engaging in risky behaviors. Start monitoring your kids early
on, in ways that are age-appropriate. In fact, the earlier you begin monitoring, the easier it will be to continue as your kids get older and the more they’ll expect it from you.
