The teaching is recognizing and acknowledging that there is a higher power than man and it is known as the Creator, is to be deemed truly humble. To express deference or submission to the Creator through the acceptance that all beings are equal is to capture the spirit of humility. The expression of this humility is manifested through the consideration of others before ourselves. In this way, the Wolf became the teacher of this lesson. He bows his head in the presence of others out of deference, and once hunted, will not take of the food until it can be shared with the pack. His lack of arrogance and respect for his community is a hard lesson, but integral in the Indigenous way.

ABJ High School will be doing a follow-up visit to help register the Grade 8 students on Monday March 13th in the afternoon.

It will take about 15 minutes per group and they will meet the students in their classrooms as this part is much easier to do in small groups.

In order to complete the online registration portion, just a reminder that students will need the following:

- a charged device (not a phone)

- ability to log in to their PowerSchool account

"St. Theresa is proud to host members of Canada's Men's and Women's sitting volleyball teams on March 22nd in the morning to introduce the students to sitting volleyball. Sitting volleyball is a paralympic sport that Canada has been getting stronger with our women's team ranked 3rd in the world. We will be welcoming Nicole Ban who is the Women's team head coach, Sarah Melenka who is the setter for the women's team, and Austin Hinchey who is the setter for the men's team. They will be teaching the students about the sport while at the same time, educating them on the inclusivity that volleyball can have for those that have disabilities."

George Miok was a former student in our school and was well known for being kind and always willing to lend a helping hand for his school community. George graduated from Archbishop Jordan high school in the class of 2001, and joined the Canadian Armed Forces shortly thereafter. George was also working on a Degree in Education and hoped to one day teach in an EICS school.

His life was cut short however, passing away in January 2010, while serving his country in Afghanistan. George's memory lives on through the George Miok scholarship; a scholarship generously funded by a local business, Jacek Chocolates.

Through a program called "Miok Moments", this scholarship allows St. Theresa to acknowledge and highlight the kindness and service our students display. This year's Miok Moments program kicked off this week.

Like what we did last year, students will be recognized, among other things, for demonstrating kindness, empathy, being helpful, and being of service to others.

This recognition will come in the form of a Miok Moments slip of paper that will be placed in the appropriate grade group bin, thus being entered for a gift card draw prize. Eight $20 Chapters gift cards will be drawn three times between now and Spring Break (before Christmas, mid-February, and before Spring Break). In June, a grand prize draw will be made from all the MIOK moments, and two students will have their name added to the Miok Moments plaque and win a new Chromebook!

We had a great day at the Alberta Legislature. You can see our Mock Assembly, where students formed the Government and Opposition. They debated Bill 199: The Four Day School Week.

Our MLA Mr. Jordan Walker took a picture with us, and introduced us to the Assembly during the live session on Wednesday.

SFL 7 classes got an amazing behind the scenes tour of Commonwealth Stadium, while learning all about careers in athletics beyond being a pro athlete. Thanks to Dan and Ryan and the all’s organization.

The Grade 8 students explored the structure and function of eyes by carrying out a sheep eye dissection as part of their Light and Optics science unit. Many competencies such as Collaboration, Personal Growth and Well-Being and more were applied for this activity.

Regulation Station – For children in grades 1 to 3

Emotions can be hard to understand. All feelings are okay but not all behaviors are okay. Learn appropriate ways to name and process emotions through art, music, drama, and storytelling. Children learn and practice different ways to help them self-regulate. Join with a friend and learn something new during Spring Break!

Inclusive Parenting: Understanding Teen Substance Use: Thursday, March 23rd from 6 - 7:30 pm at Family and Community Services (401 Festival Lane)

In January we start our Family 2 Family series with a session on Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), followed by two new Family 2 Family sessions in February and March - Struggling with Diagnosis and Coping Strategies and then the NeuroRelational Framework respectively.

We continue to offer our Pediatric to Adult Transitions series. These four sessions aim to make this transition a gradual process instead of a stressful one as we provide guidance of the tasks and considerations to be made as your child transitions from youth to adulthood.

All Family 2 Family and Pediatric to Adult Transition sessions are free and open to all parents and family caregivers. Children do not need to have a diagnosis or a connection to the Glenrose for parents to attend.

The exception is the Our Best Life sessions, which are only for parents of children that have a terminal prognosis/diagnosis. Started at the request of a parent, this session is a safe space for parents to share and learn as they strive to make the best life for their child and family. A place to talk through the challenges and possibilities amidst all the appointments, the emotions and anticipatory grief that comes with having a child with a terminal prognosis. This session is not clinician led nor intended as a substitute for professional mental health care. It is hosted by the Glenrose Family Centered Care Coordinator who connects parents with resources and clinician support as needed after each session.

The St. Theresa Parent Advisory Council performs many vital functions for our school community, by helping to facilitate school wide student functions and providing valuable funding to our school via fundraising. Parents involved in the PAC learn about planning and development within the school and are part of the planning process. These roles make their involvement very important to the families, administration and teachers.

This camp exists to support families and youth ministry initiatives in the Archdiocese of Edmonton by offering a week-long faith experience. At camp everyone can Encounter Christ, Encounter Community, and Encounter Creation. They will do this through a mixture of faith experiences and outdoor activities held at our camp on beautiful Gull Lake.

Registration for camp is now open, and any young person entering grades 4-12 next fall is welcome to attend! Our summer schedule is as follows:

• Saturday, July 8 – Grand Re-opening BBQ (All are welcome! Details coming soon.)
• July 9-13 – High School Camp (Grades 10-12. Youth who attend these weeks can volunteer as junior counselors at the elementary, jr high, and all ages weeks of camp.)
