Daily In-Person Learning - First Week In The Books!

LWJES would like to thank all the students, faculty members, and family members who demonstrated patience and understanding as our school implemented updated schedules and daily in-person learning this past week for over 300 students! We appreciate everyone who also demonstrated courtesy and perseverance while the community learns and practices revised procedures and protocols. We are looking forward to the upcoming weeks of learning in a healthy and safe environment!

Reminder To In-Person Learners - Fully Charge and Bring Chromebooks To School Daily

For in-person learners, please be sure to bring your Chromebook to school each day and then home at the end of each day. We must be prepared to pivot to distance learning for all at any time, and Chromebooks are an essential component of being able to participate in distance learning.

It is also critical that Chromebooks are charged every night and come to school fully charged with the charging cable included in the Chromebook bag.

Tentative Information - School Picture Day

We have tentatively scheduled school picture day for Friday, April 23, 2021. Students who attend school in-person will have their pictures taken according to the day's schedule. Students who are distance learners will also be invited to have their pictures taken. Please look for more information soon with information and procedures about school pictures. This date and opportunity is subject to change at any time.

Looking Ahead - State Testing for Grades 3-5

State-mandated yearly assessments, also known as the criterion-referenced tests (CRT) or SBAC, must be completed this year. The CRT was not administered in 2020 due to the closure of school buildings. LWJES will administer the CRT to students in Grade 3, Grade 4, and Grade 5. Students will complete the reading portions of the CRT during the week of April 19th. Students will complete the mathematics portions of the CRT during the week of April 26th. Students in Grade 5 only must also complete the science CRT which will be completed during the week of April 26th as well.

  • Students who are in-person learners will complete their CRT during their time on campus.
  • Students who are distance learners are not able to complete the CRT at home; families of distance learners will receive additional information about the CRT next week, including scheduling information for coming on campus to work on the CRT.

Tentative Information - School Yearbook

LWJES intends on publishing a yearbook for the 2020-2021 school year. Please look for information about yearbook sales to be shared in the upcoming weeks.

In-Person Learners Reminder - Check Your Child's Health Before School Daily

Families are required to check their child's health each morning before coming to school on in-person learning days.

Any students determined to be exhibiting symptoms related to COVID-19 will be sent home immediately from school from the satellite health office. Should isolation and/or quarantine protocols need to be enacted, communication will be provided from the school.

Reminder: Expect Arrival and Dismissal Delays for In-Person Learners

LWJES will continue to maintain limited points of entry and limited points of exit in support of protocols associated with pandemic precautions.

Plan ahead for busy traffic conditions and possible delays! It takes everyone doing their part to make the day successful.
