Hahn's Tidbits
Preference Forms will be placed in boxes on Monday. Please return them to A. Guzman's mailbox by January 22nd. Hard to believe we are thinking about next year already! I just got here!!!
Thank you for your feedback on the graffiti wall! Your thoughts will certainly help us prepare for this year and the next several. Please know some things are within our control and some are not. For those of you requesting a three day weekend, I have gone ahead and built one into the calendar for next weekend. Enjoy your Monday off, but please don't expect this to happen very often :)!
Conferences and small group meetings: I am excited about the opportunity to get to know each of you better. Please review the questions I sent last week. This is certainly not required homework, but they will guide our conversations. A couple people have already turned these in - thank you!!! The information I have received so far has been very insightful! Please sign up if you have not already; sign-up forms are on A. Guzman's office door.
Colder weather and outside activity:
Temperatures are starting to drop near freezing for low temperatures with daytime temperatures in the 40 to 60 degree range. It is suggested that when wind chill temperatures drop below 40 degrees, the amount of time spent outside should be limited to 20 minutes of less during school hours. The amount of time should be adjusted down as the temperatures drop below freezing. Physical Education classes should be cautious since all students may not be dressed appropriately for these temperatures and instruction may be more difficult. Remember that you can always check the wind chill or heat index by using the following website. http://www.weather.com/weather/hourbyhour/l/USGA0082:1:US
A special thank you to the teachers and families who came to Chick-fil-a night! It was nice to see some familiar faces that night and my two boys LOVED it! Hope to see you at the next CFA night - February 4th.
Dates to remember:
Tuesday, January 12 - PTA meeting (5:30-6:30 PM)
Wednesday, January 13 - Chess Club (7:30 AM)
Spelling Bee Meeting (8:00 AM)
Principal Meeting (EH out of building)
Thursday, January 14 - Relay for Life Meeting (7:50 AM)
Friday, January 15 - Spelling Bee (4th and 5th graders)
This is my first attempt at a newsletter; please be patient :). As I stated earlier, my goal will be to get it to you on Fridays. That may or may not happen before February, but I am working on it. It will contain more information each week; and the timing will be easier once we have a scheduled time for our Admin. Team meetings and ILT (Instructional Leadership Team). If there is information you would like included, please send it to me by Thursday afternoon. I appreciate any and all feedback and suggestions. Please let me know what is helpful for you to see here! (PTA will have a section in upcoming flyers.)
Final Note: I would love to start the ABCD Awards to recognize teachers that have gone above and beyond the call of duty to ensure that teaching and learning are at the highest levels at Harris ES. Please be on the lookout for more information and an updated bulletin board in the front office to recognize you all for your GREAT work! Student reward and recognition to come soon as well.
Have a great week and enjoy your long weekend!
I will be around to see you -
Erin
