MESSAGE FROM OUR PRIMARY PRINCIPAL - MS. SANDRA KELLEC
Dear AJAC Community,
On behalf of all of the teachers in the Primary School, I would like to convey “Ramadan Kareem” to all. It is our hope that all of our families will remain safe and receive continued blessings during this holy month.
With the newly reduced schedules for Ramadan, we do expect our students to continue to maximize their efforts by attending classes on a daily basis and completing set work. You may have noticed that we have continued our story sessions at the end of the day for the children. We have also added an ‘Explore New Things’ session (Grades 1-5) to further provide enhancement, inquiry and reflection for students, although this is purely on an optional basis.
During distance learning, our students have shown us that they have a strong desire to learn, whatever the challenges. Our recent introduction of Microsoft Teams to our digital learning platform has allowed children to “see” the other children in their classroom and their teacher on a daily basis. It has also allowed facilitated one-to-one and small group accessibility between students throughout the day. Teachers can reflect with students, have personalized academic chats, and check the general well being of students. Most recently, we have also started a distance reading support program using Microsoft Teams across the Primary school. Each day a number of students will have the opportunity to read orally to a member of staff. Children will experience focused reading on a one-to one-basis with someone other than their classroom teacher. Children will continue to develop their strategies for comprehension in the process.
I would like to thank our teachers for their perseverance in providing the very best lessons and learning experiences they can for the children. From planning to presentation, they are working well into the evenings looking for creative ways to draw students into teaching and learning each day.
Certainly, we must never forget our steadfast and pro-active parents who have provided so much additional support with their children from home. We remain thankful for this and appreciate the trust and partnership you have with Ajman Academy.
Once again, my best wishes for a wonderful Ramadan.
Please stay safe and may God Bless.
