Percles
Pericles was a member of an aristocrat family but he supported the democracy. He was a leader of a democratic group that introduced reforms that strengthened the democracy. These reforms forced the citizens to pay a salary to the government. This salary meant that poor citizens could afford to hold a government office.
Rich
The Greeks grew rich from trade, and from silver mined by slaves.
Democracy
Democracy grew to its highest power in the Golden Age.
Parthenon
The Parthenon was one of the biggest accomplishments of the Golden Age.

Water
First the Greeks believed that everything was made from water. But then they realized that everything was made of atoms.
Socrates
Socrates was a famous Greek philosopher. He believed that people should Know thyself. He challenged the beliefs of the people of Athens by making them think about there beliefs. He was put on trial and forced to kill himself because people thought he misled them about the gods.
Plato and Aristotle
Plato was one of Socrates's students. Plato formed a school in witch one of his students was named Aristotle. later Aristotle founded his own school. Over time they continued to teach there beliefs.
Visual and Dramatic Arts
Drama
Dramas where a large part of this time. The Greeks where the first people who wrote these dramas
Comedies
Athens poets also wrote comedies. They made fun of famous people and told jokes about every day life.
Art
The ancient Greeks loved art. They built statues and painted paintings for artistic purposes.
The Parthenon
Pericles organized the building of the Parthenon. The Parthenon was a temple to Athena. The Parthenon is made of marble. Rows of columns surrounded it on all 4 sides. In the middle of the room was a 40 foot statue of Athena.

The Greeks used arts in many ways. They used them for entertainment. They also used them to praise the gods. The Greeks used the arts in many ways.
I love Greece
I enjoy the Greek gods the most. They are fun to research and to read about.
