Colrain Virtual All-School Hike
Friday, Oct. 23rd, 1-3pm
This is an online event.
Take part on Friday, October 23 (or anytime in the days before or after) to get outside and enjoy our beautiful autumn landscape. We wish we were all out on the trail together in-person, but we don’t want to forget this awesome CCS tradition!
On Friday, 10/23 we encourage families to get outside in the afternoon. If you are not able to get outside at that time and need something for your child to do, check out one of these virtual hikes or outdoor experiences:
If you can get outside, consider checking out some of our past All-School Hike favorites: Catamount, the H.O. Cook State Forest, High Ledges, or the Mohawk Trail State Forest.
Please take some photos of your experience and email them to Talia Miller so she can put together a slideshow. Email: email@example.com All students who participate are eligible for a free apple from Hager's Farm Market.
RSVPs are enabled for this event.
After School Mentoring Program
We are trying to gauge families' interest in starting a virtual after school mentoring program at CCS. The benefits for students of participating in a program like this might range from a chance for your child to learn from someone who shares their hobbies or career interests to having a volunteer to check-in with your child about how they are doing and to help them stay organized.
If you are interested, you can fill out the survey we'll send out in a separate email. In that survey, you can share your child's interests and how frequently you'd be like them to participate. We will see if we get enough interest from families and volunteers to make this happen.
Attention all little Colrain ghosts, goblins and ghouls!!
The Colrain Fire Department, along with our friends from the Colrain Ambulance and Colrain Police Department will be holding a "truck or treat" On Saturday, October 31st from 2pm-6pm.
All Colrain children through grade 6 are invited and costumes are encouraged! Masks will also be required.
Please e-mail Amanda at Agauthier10@hotmail.com with your child's name and age, and if they have any peanut allergies.
Since this year will be a little different, we will be setting up time blocks for your children to participate in our "truck or treat" so please be sure to get those emails sent by Friday October 30th!!
We are all facing all kinds of new stress. Research shows that worries about the pandemic and the uncertainty in our lives is hard on people of all ages. Ms. Miller is going to be posting a weekly stress management activity that is perfect for the 5 minutes before or after the school day. These will be appropriate for students of all ages.
Ms. Miller shares with us that the 10-15 minutes before online learning is always a challenging time for her own kindergarten-age child and she has had some success settling him with these kinds of activities. You can encourage your child to watch the short video on Monday and try the activity a few times over the week. Not all activities will resonate with all kids and that's okay. Each week will be different types of things like a quick walk, deep breathing, super simple art, or stretches. All of these activities are optional. Videos will be posted on social media and can be found in your child's Google Classroom. Ms. Miller will also post directions with lots of visuals for families that would prefer that option. Check it out starting Monday, October 26.
