FWISD seeks Parent Input
In 2020 and 2021, Congress passed three stimulus bills that provided nearly $190.5 billion to the Elementary and Secondary Emergency Education Relief (ESSER) Fund. Fort Worth ISD is slated to receive a portion of these relief funds to address the impact that COVID-19 has had, and continues to have, on elementary and secondary schools across the Nation.
Fort Worth ISD Superintendent Kent P. Scribner and Chief Academic Officer Jerry Moore will lead the discussion as the District seeks input from parents and other stakeholders about how we will use the ESSER funds provided by the Federal government.
Date: Monday, May 24, 2021
Time: 6-7 p.m. English
7-8 p.m. Spanish

MAP End-of-Year Testing
Parents, this week kinder-2nd grade in-person students completed their MAP Fluency test. Next week virtual students will need to take their fluency and reading/math tests at school. As with other testing, testing groups no more than 7 students and all FWISD Covid-19 guidelines will be followed to ensure health and safety. Report Cards are Ready to View!
Grade Recovery
After viewing your child's report card, please contact your child's teacher if you have concerns about any failing grades (below 70). Please be aware that students do have the opportunity to redo assignments/tests on which they scored below a 70. The grade the student receives for the marking period upon successful completion of grade recovery activities will be no higher than a 70.
Chromebook Care
Student device repairs have steadily increased throughout the spring semester resulting in a
backlog of over 1,000 student devices in repair at the FWISD Support Warehouse. The large number of repairs causes issues with student device availability. Please remind your child to treat their device with care while at home and at school.
Best practices regarding Chromebooks:
- Nothing should be placed between the keyboard and the screen when a device is closed to avoid cracked screens.
- Devices need to be opened and closed with care to prevent hinge damage.
- Chromebooks should be kept in padded cases, not in backpacks between books.
- Students should not eat or drink near any devices. Damage from crumbs and liquids should be avoided.
Charging:
Chromebooks should not be charging overnight. They completely charge after 30 minutes and should last about 2-3 day before needing to be charged again. Once the charge is low, then they should charge it again. When bringing Chromebooks to school they should be charged completely. If students bring their chargers to school, please ensure the charger has the student's name on it. ALL students pk-5th have an assigned district chromebook, so if you have not picked one up for you child, contact your child’s teacher so we can have It ready in the office.
Cases:
All in-person learners with a Chromebook should have case to protect the Chromebooks. Chromebooks should not be brought to school without a case. If your child does not have a case, let us know.
More information concerning student device care can be found in the DiGiN Device Handbook Website: http://bit.ly/DiGiNWS A video showing Chromebook care is included on the following page of the DiGiN Handbook: https://sites.google.com/view/diginhandbook/device-management/student-fees?authuser=0
