Emily Carr School
October 2015
Message From Administration
As always we would like to remind you to arrive on time for school. Our students are supervised from 8:00 am -8:15 am on the playground. There is an 8:10 am bell inviting students inside the building. At 8:15 am school starts; i.e. first period of instruction begins. Please make every effort to arrive to school on time. If you arrive after your child's class has gone into the school, it is important that your child enters through the front door and picks up a late slip from the office. Children should not be dropped off at school prior to 8:00 am, outside or indoors; there is no one to supervise. Children are the responsibility of their parents or caregivers until 8:00 am in the morning.
We would also like to take a moment to clarify about after school supervision. The Emily Carr playground is supervised until 2:50pm (15 minutes after the bell). After that point, all students that play at the park and on the soccer field are the responsibility of their parents. Parents are strongly encouraged to supervise their children at the park. Issues occurring at the park are the responsibility of the parents. Some parents have a check-in system with their children to ensure they always know their children's whereabouts.
Welcome Aboard!
We would like to give a warm welcome to Mr. Vinthers in class 4-2. Mr. Vinthers will be covering for Mrs. Allmark while she is off on maternity leave. Congratulations Mrs. Allmark!
EMILY CARR’S ANNUAL HALLOWEEN PARADE
On Friday, October 30th at 8:45 a.m., we will be having our annual Halloween Parade. Students in grades JK-3 will be participating in the parade, with students from grades 4-8 acting as spectators.
Parents are welcome to attend the Halloween Parade. We ask that you assemble on the blacktop. Pylons will indicate where the children will walk. If it rains (or snows), you may assemble in the foyer near the office and library at 8:45 a.m. Please refrain from bringing strollers and wagons into the school as there isn't enough room.
Please note that the involvement of your child in the Parade and costume activities is completely voluntary. We appreciate that not all parents may support the concept of Halloween in its entirety. Our goal is to make it a fun day for the children.
Thank you
We would like to take some time to thank the students and coaches and parent volunteers who participated in the Terry Fox Walk on October 5th. As a school we raised $630.60 for the Terry Fox Foundation.
