Congratulations Bobby Ashley! The Blytheville School Board hired Blytheville High School principal Bobby Ashley to be the Blytheville Public Schools superintendent starting July 1.
Work Orders
Sign Out/Sign In
Each time you leave the building, you must SIGN OUT/IN in the office (no exceptions...includes going to admin or another school). Unless you have text/talked to Ms. Adelowo or I, you should not be leaving during your prep period. That time is to be used for collaboration with your peers and planning for your lessons. If there is something that you must leave to do, you must talk to us first. This is a safety issue. If we go in to a lockdown or have any other emergency, I have to know where everyone is at and not spend time looking for someone who isn't in the building.
WALKTHROUGHS\INFORMALS
Look-fors during walkthrough:
- Evidence of Lesson Plan (current and posted by the door)
- Standards-Based Learning Objectives posted (current and in plain view)
- Exemplary standards-based student work displayed (strive for authentic on task engagement!)
- Student Engagement (lesson should be upbeat and not a drag)
- Effective use of transition time (maximize down-time, not just busy work)
- Model, guided, or independent/group work (more collaborative grouping)
- DOK/Higher level questioning
- Check for student understanding
- Instructional materials used (prepared and ready to maximize instructional time)
- Classroom Management (positive behavior is reinforced/negative behavior addressed through redirecting)
- Classroom Culture (positive student-teacher relationships)
Office Referrals
Please make sure you are referring to the Behavior Flow Chart before entering a referral. Let’s make sure the situation warrants a discipline referral before entering it in TAC. I have received lots of classroom managed offenses that should have been documented in the PBIS binder. A student should not be sent to the office for violating a single classroom managed offense. Please DO NOT send students to the office unless they have been called.
Please DO NOT sit a child out in the hallway while you are waiting for a referral to be processed. I can ensure you that I handle each one as quickly as I possibly can.
Let’s be mindful that we must constantly teach and reteach procedures and follow through with classroom consequences. This will help reinforce and minimize re-occurrences.
The following offenses should be handled by teacher:
· Possession of gum, candy, toys, slime, etc.
· Passing notes
· Failure to follow procedures
· Cheating on daily assignments
· Failure to bring appropriate materials to class
· Petty conflicts among students
· Disruptive behavior in the classroom, which is of a minor nature
· Not working in class after parent contact
· Inappropriate Language
· Excessive Talking
· Quiet Zone Disruption
· Gum/Food/Candy
· Off Task (Disruptive)
· Passing Notes (including emails)
· Disrespectful to Adults
· Minor Theft
· Inappropriate Use of Technology (off task)
· Sleeping
