Memorial Day: School will be closed on Monday, May 27th in observance of the men and women we have lost while serving our country. Thank you to all of you that serve our great nation.


May is National Mental Health Awareness Month. This week, CMS will be hosting wellness activities at lunch and broadcasting information about mental health and wellness on KCMS. Lunch activities will give students a chance to practice healthy choices and discuss proactive steps to support social and emotional well-being.

**Students can come to the Library which will be converted to the “Zen-Den” where they can visit various stations to practice stress-reduction, relaxation, art, and yoga.

** “Attitude of Gratitude” Students will write a brief message of thanks on a sticky note which will be collected and displayed on the library windows.

** “Be Kind to Your Mind” station: Students can unload some stress and spin the wheel of success.


Bikes and Helmets: Lately, we've seen a lot of students not wearing helmets and riding recklessly into traffic. If your child rides to school, please remind him/her to always wear a helmet and be mindful of traffic, especially when leaving school.


2019-2020 CHS Freshman Girls Volleyball, Boys Water Polo and Golf: There will be a meeting on Monday, May 20th at 3:15 in Granzer Hall. Meet CHS coaches and learn about the game, try out dates, summer training, and the season schedules.


CAASPP Assessments: Our students have wrapped up state testing! Thank you, students, for your efforts to demonstrate your achievement and represent our school. We're so proud of you!


Library Books: All books must be returned to the library by Friday, May 31st. Please be sure to pay any fines for lost or damaged books.


Last Day for Homework Club: The last day of will be on June 7th.

6th and 7th Grade Parents

It is tradition that the 7th grade parents chaperone the 8th grade Promotion Party on June 12th from 6:00pm-9:00 pm and host the 8th grade breakfast on June 13th from 7:30am - 10:00 am.

6th Grade Olympics!

CMS 26th Annual Sixth Grade Olympics: Friday, May 24th, 2019 at 8:00 am on the Coronado High School Niedermeyer Football Field. This is a fun and exciting day for students as they compete in a real life, simulated summer Olympic events while learning about Ancient Greece, physical fitness, teamwork, skill performance, and goal setting, Students will participate in an Olympic opening ceremony and then compete in three competitive athletic events throughout the day.

The 2019 8th Grade Class Group Picture was taken last month. If you are interested in purchasing your copy of this memorable moment, please follow the instructions below:

Deadline to Purchase this photo is - 9 pm on Saturday, May 18th

All orders placed by this deadline will be delivered to school for distribution. Any order

received after this deadline will be available for pick up in our Studio (La Mesa, CA).

Upcoming Events

8th Grade Knott’s Berry Farm Trip: Tuesday, May 21st. Students must arrive at CMS no later than 7:15am . We will return to school at approximately 6:00pm.


Please review the following guidelines:

  • Outside food is not permitted in the park, therefore students bringing lunch will meet with designated chaperones to eat lunch.

  • The standard CMS dress code must be followed for the trip.

  • Wear durable shoes. No flip-flops or sandals.

  • You may use phones/iPods or other electronics while on the bus. Coronado Middle School and the bus company are not liable for any lost, damaged, or stolen items.

  • Students may bring a snack for the ride home in addition to bottled water. Sodas and other types of drinks are not permitted on the bus.

  • Chaperones will be assigned and responsible for a group of approximately 12 students while in the park.

  • Students are required to follow all behavior expectations consistent with those enforced at school as well as park rules.


ASB Medic Ball Fundraiser! The tournament is May 30th, 2019 from 3:30-6:00pm in the CHS Gym. Students may assemble teams of 6-8 players or they may attend as a spectator. Permission slips are available in the office.


The Talent Show is coming June 6th!

Message from CSF- Summer Enrichment is back!

Registration is now open for Coronado Schools Foundation's 2019 Summer Enrichment Program featuring hands-on STEAM-inspired classes for students, grades TK-12.

This educationally focused program offers two, one-week sessions with some classes offered over both weeks. Classes are held from 8:30 to 11:30 am and 12:00 to 3:00 pm with most classes at Village Elementary School. There will be a supervised lunch period from 11:30-12:00 for students taking both morning and afternoon classes.
Most classes are taught by credentialed Coronado Unified teachers with Steve Reiss, a local expert, teaching SAT/ACT and Excelsior Chess offering Chess Camp. Class sizes are small with experienced teachers at the helm, planning and executing the curriculum.
