Toy Drive
Thanks to the many donations from families and staff members, the Daniel Wright Wright Way Club collected 123 toys for the Toys for Tots program run by the United States Marine Corps Reserve, which distributes toys to children whose parents cannot afford to buy them gifts for Christmas.

History Bee
The week of Jan. 7 (when students return to school after winter break) students in grades 6, 7 and 8 will have the opportunity to participate in the qualifying round of the National History Bee. For details about the National History Bee Competitions, please refer to the Google Doc flyer.
Qualifying Round Session times (Qualifying rounds take place in Room 219):
- Jan. 7 from 12:30 to 12:50 p.m. or after school until 4 p.m.
- Jan. 8 from 12:30 to 12:50 p.m. or after school until 4 p.m.
- Jan. 9 from 12:30 to 12:50 p.m. or after school until 4 pm.
If these time slots do not work for you, please contact Kristine Rickert at krickert@d103.org to make other arrangements.
Reading Competition
Gluten Free Lunch Menu Available
We will continue to provide cold/à la carte gluten-friendly options daily (for Half Day and Daniel Wright) such as gluten-friendly sandwiches and salads. We will now offer individually wrapped gluten-free bread at all three schools to reduce the chance of cross-contact.

Girls Volleyball Season Approaching
Tryout dates and times for the 2020 volleyball season for seventh- and eighth-grade girls are as follows:
- Thursday, Jan. 9 from 3:45 to 5:00 p.m.
- Monday, Jan. 13 from 3:45 to 5:00 p.m.
- Tuesday, Jan. 14 from 3:45 to 5:00 p.m.

Teacher's Wish List
Today, Dec. 13, is the last day to purchase books for teachers from the Teacher's Wish List. The wish lists are part of the PTO's Book Fair, which was held during parent-teacher conferences.
Social Dance Lessons
The PTO is offering social dance lessons to sixth-grade students on Friday evenings from 8 to 9:15 p.m. beginning Jan. 10 through Feb. 14.
A parent observation/participation night will be held on Feb. 14
*For the first night of dance lessons, the PTO will hold a pizza party at 7:30 p.m. with dance lessons immediately following.

Pizza Orders
Families may now place pizza orders for winter/spring 2020. The orders for winter/spring will consist of 18 weeks of pizza on Tuesdays beginning Jan. 21. The deadline to order pizza is Wednesday, Jan. 15.
Reminders
Scholastic Bowl tryouts are approaching fast. Mark your calendar for the following tryout dates:
- Seventh- and eighth-graders: Tuesday, Jan. 14, Room 203
- Sixth-graders: Thursday, Jan. 16, Room 203
- Families of sixth-graders, please return health forms to your child's advisory teacher no later than Thursday, Dec. 19. All pertinent information for the Outdoor Education trip, planned for the week of Feb. 3, 2020, can be found on the school's Flyers, Forms, and Notices website page.

Foundation
Snap Circuits: The Learning Fund Foundation's annual holiday snap circuit fundraiser closes next week. Parents can access the Snap Circuit set choices by logging into RevTrak Web Store. There are also order forms in each of the school offices.
Join us for Chicago Wolves: The Learning Fund Foundation will be hosting our first Learning Fund Foundation Family Fun Day at the Allstate Arena.
In addition to a special discount on tickets, you will receive:
- Free Chicago Wolves winter knit hats (for all attendees)
- The Learning Fund Foundation name displayed on the LED matrix board throughout the game
- Chicago Wolves replica jersey if we have 50+ attendees
