Harrison Park Weekly Update

October 18, 2021

Cell Phones

We are noticing an increase in cell phone use during school. Please remind your child of our policy of off and away ALL day (8:38am-3:15pm). Students are welcome to check their phones into the office to be locked in a safe place, if they feel they will struggle keeping their phones off. One warning will be given for the phone to be put away, after that it will be taken to the office and locked up for the day. The student can retrieve it at the end of the school day. As a reminder, if you need to get in touch with your child during the day to please call the office (503) 916-5700 and we can relay your message.

Chromebooks

Please remember to be charging your Chromebooks every night at home. It is important that they are charged so you can use them at school during the day.

Coats and Lunches

As the weather begins to become cooler, please remember to send your student to school with a coat. Many classrooms have windows open and we are outside for recess.

At this time lunches are being held in the courtyard, with the weather changing we will be having to transition into the cafeteria at 6ft apart. If you prefer to have your child eat outside during these times, please contact the school so we can work together to devise a plan for your student.

Drop off and Pick up

Please have students exit/enter your car closest to the curb at their grade level doors. We are trying to avoid having students stepping into oncoming traffic.

Water Bottles and Masks

Please send your student to school with a filled water bottle and a extra mask(s). We have all new water filling stations for students throughout the building to fill them up.

PPS COVID-19 Student Vaccine Information

September 16, 2021

On September 16, families received a brief survey (5-10 minutes) about your students and the COVID-19 vaccination.

In short, we’d like to determine how many of our students (ages 12 and older) are fully vaccinated against the virus and as we anxiously await approval for the COVID-19 vaccine for younger students (age 5 to 11), we’d like to plan for targeted outreach for families to quickly access the vaccine. The information you share will help us prioritize vaccine access and outreach to schools this fall.

Included in this brief survey is a question about your student’s home access to a computer and the internet. As we become a district that further integrates the use of technology in our teaching and learning, this information will better prepares us to equip students and families with these tools.

Please take a moment to complete your unique survey for by September 30, 2021.

Thank you for your support in taking this survey.
