The Fort Worth ISD Council of PTAs has officially endorsed the District’s bond proposals on the November 2 ballot.

Early voting is underway and continues through Friday, October 29. For more information, visitwww.fwisd.org/bond.
FORT WORTH ISD SOCIAL EMOTIONAL LEARNING SURVEY STARTS MONDAY
All teachers and students (grades 3-12) are encouraged to participate in the Social Emotional Learning (SEL) survey that runs through Friday, November 5.
The survey is a research-backed assessment that measures “SEL and school climate and [identifies] opportunities for additional support."
Students are asked to weigh in about their SEL engagement experiences and peer-adult relationships.
The District takes the data obtained from the survey to establish benchmarks, set goals, and track progress over time for establishing SEL and wellbeing support mechanisms for teachers and students alike.
Teachers or students with additional survey questions are encouraged to contact the Grants Compliance and Monitoring Department at 817-814-1850 or email Askeval@fwisd.org.

FWISD OBSERVED WORLD SIGHT DAY BY DISTRIBUTING FREE GLASSES TO NEARLY 200 STUDENTS
The Fort Worth ISD observed World Sight Day this month by distributing nearly 200 pairs of free eyeglasses to students and educating parents about the importance of proper eye care.
Students at Clifford Davis Elementary School received the eyeglasses at no cost through a partnership between the District, the Alcon Foundation, Community Eye Clinic and the University of North Texas Health Science Center.
“I’m extremely grateful for this work our partners are doing and I’m excited for our children,” said Dr. Cherie Washington, Chief of Student Support Services.
District organizers for FWISD’s World Sight Day event say eyesight correction has a direct impact on students’ academic success. Without it, they may struggle as they learn to read or even solve a math problem.
“The goal is to empower all students to say ‘my eyes are ready to learn,’” said Presciliana Olayo, FWISD Vision Care Services coordinator.
For additional information about the Children’s Vision Care Program, contact Ms. Olayo at 817-814-2813 or email Presciliana.olayo@fwisd.org.

COVID-19 SYMPTOMS AND EXPOSURES: KNOW WHEN TO CALL YOUR DOCTOR OR SEEK EMERGENCY CARE
The Cook Children’s Emergency Department (ED) has seen a big influx of parents bringing in children who have been exposed to COVID-19 but show no symptoms. Children who aren’t critically-injured or ill should go instead to their pediatrician or a COVID-19 testing site.
“If your child needs emergency care treatment, our Emergency Department is here for you. That’s why we’re here,” said Natalie Carpenter, director of Emergency Services at Cook Children's. “But please don’t come to the emergency department for a simple COVID test.”
The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) lists these COVID-19 symptoms requiring emergency care:
- Trouble breathing
- Persistent pain or pressure in the chest
- New confusion
- Inability to wake or stay awake
- Pale, gray, or blue-colored skin, lips, or nail beds, depending on skin tone
