Multicultural Night on Friday
Message from Mr. Burns
Hi Wims Families,
You would never know it was December this weekend based on the weather. However, It did make it more pleasurable putting up the outdoor holiday lights:)
We have a PTA meeting on Tuesday evening in the Media Center. During the administration update, we will highlight the Regional Middle School Magnet (Criteria Based) Timeline. In addition, we will have an open forum to address any questions from our Wims community.
Also, one of our favorite events of the year will be on Friday evening, Wims Multicultural Night. It is a wonderful opportunity to celebrate our great diversity at WIms. We hope you can join us!

Make Up Picture Day
Lifetouch Photography will be here at Wims on Monday, December 18 for our Make Up Picture day. Any students who were absent for pictures in October may have their pictures taken. Any parent who would like their students picture retaken, please let Mrs. Frazier know so that we can get that information to Lifetouch.

From the PTA Board
Dear Families,
We hope that all students and families enjoyed our Fall Book Fair. Thanks to you, we raised over $13,000 in sales. These funds allow the PTA to support $1,000 in books for the Media Center and over $2,000 in books which go directly to our classrooms. Thank you to all of the volunteers who gave their time to make the Book Fair a success, especially our Book Fair Chairs, Danni Ibarra and Kim Borgel, who spent countless hours at the fair. We are in desperate need of a co-chair for Book Fair. If you are interested in helping with this important event at a higher level, please reach out to Danni at vicepresident@wwespta.org.
We are looking forward to seeing our Wonderful Wildcats at our final 2023 events, starting with Multicultural Night this Friday, December 8th, and our first-ever Holiday Shoppe on Tuesday, December 19th. Finally, if you’re doing some holiday baking, please consider sharing a dozen (or two!) with our Wonderful Wims Staff during our second annual “You’re One Smart Cookie Exchange” – we need your help to make their holiday bright!
Please join us for our December PTA Meeting, this Tuesday, December 5th, at 6:30 PM in the Media Center. Free childcare will be provided by Global (potty-trained children only, please). If you would like to attend virtually, please use Zoom Meeting ID 814 9654 6654 and passcode 120708. As always, in-person attendance is encouraged to facilitate our family environment.
Finally, interest forms are now open for some popular events after we ring in 2024, so please read on for that information.
We hope you have a Wonderful Wildcat Week!
~ Ashley Zuraf, PTA President, 2023-24 School Year

PTA REFLECTIONS: SCHOOL ENTRIES DUE DECEMBER 20
We are excited to announce the return of the PTA Reflections Program at our school. The National PTA Reflections program is PTA’s cornerstone arts program, developed in 1969 to encourage students to explore their talents and express themselves. Each year, students in Grades Pre-K – 12, are recognized for bringing themes to life in the following six categories: dance choreography, film production, literature, musical composition, photography and visual arts (including 3D Art). The 3 top entries in each category will advance to the county level competition. Students who participate in the Reflections program may not recognize themselves as artists when they sign up—but by the end of the Reflections celebrations, they will. This year's theme is I am Hopeful Because... To learn more about the program, please visit the National PTA and the Free State PTA websites. The Free State PTA website includes the guidelines for each competition category. If your student is interested in participating in the PTA Reflections program, please complete this interest form by Monday, December 11th. School entries are due to reflections@wwespta.org by December 20. 2023. If you have any questions, please reach out to Arti Varanasi.
HELP WANTED: GIRLS ON THE RUN
We are putting out a call to the community to consider bringing back Girls on the Run (GOTR) to Wims. The program has thrived at Wims in the past and registration is opening for the spring season, themed “Hello, Superstar!” The GOTR curriculum not only coaches girls to run, but benefits them by leaving a lasting impact on their lives and creating memories that will stay with them forever. GOTR empowers girls to stand up for themselves & others, fosters self-respect, and encourages them to make a difference in their community.
For every team of 20 girls, 3 adults are needed to guide them as coaches. Practice days and times are at the discretion of the volunteer coaches. You can read more about the coaching requirements here. If running is something you love, and you think you’d be a great role model for a GOTR team, please reach out to us with your interest at pta@wwespta.org. We will only be able to consider hosting a team at Wims, if we have enough volunteers to serve as coaches.
