Rising 7th Grade Families & Students with IEP Services
We are looking forward to welcoming your children into our building next year. We have been doing a lot of behind the scenes work with the Greene school team to ensure a successful transition to junior high. We know that for many, junior high can seem like a big change for your child. To help familiarize you with the way we provide supports/services and answer any general questions you may have, we would like to invite you to an in-person orientation. This orientation will take place on Tuesday, February 13th from 6:00-6:25pm at the junior high in the choir room and both parents and students are encouraged to attend. At the conclusion of the meeting you can continue your learning about the junior high course offerings and activities by attending the academic fair that begins at 6:30pm.

Important News for EHG Parents
Free Feminine Hygiene Products
Ohio has recently enacted a program to place free feminine hygiene products in all schools that serve students in grades 6-12. The information below outlines the requirements put into effect from the State of Ohio:
To increase student wellness and address barriers that prevent students from engaging in learning, schools and districts are now required to provide feminine hygiene (menstrual) products for students in grades six through twelve. In the 2022-23 school year, there were over 476,000 female students in grades six through twelve that this new requirement will impact.
Effective Oct. 3, 2023, Ohio Law requires each traditional public school district, community school, STEM school, chartered nonpublic school and other public school with school buildings that enroll girls in grades six through twelve to provide free menstrual products. Schools may choose to provide free products to a broader range of grade levels. By providing access to free menstrual products, schools eliminate a barrier to regular attendance and promote healthy habits.
Over Winter Break, Greene custodial staff installed dispensers in all girls’ restrooms that will supply feminine napkins only. These dispensers are currently only located in the girls pod restrooms and will be installed in the girls cafeteria restroom and girls gym restroom in teh near future. In consultation with Nurse Dobrobowlski, the following message will be displayed on all dispensers:
These products are free to all EHG girls. Please only take what you need so there is enough for everyone.
If you need to change your pad, please take the old pad, wrap it in toilet paper and throw it away in the dispenser. Please do not try to flush old pads down the toilet.
If you get your period for the first time and want to call home to talk to a parent, please let your teacher or Nurse D know. If you bleed through your clothes, please see Nurse D. for new underwear. She can also talk to you if you are worried or scared about having your period. If the dispenser is empty, please tell your teacher or Mrs. Thomas in the office and they will let the custodians know it needs to be refilled.
Thank you for talking with your child about this dispenser. If there are any questions or concerns please feel free to contact Ann Marie Reinke at reinkea@sycamoreschools.org.
