Meet Your Teacher-August 24
Thank you for your patience as we work out the details for the beginning of the school year. Meet Your Teacher is going virtual this year! All families can expect an email from their child's homeroom teacher on Sunday evening, August 23. This email will include information about the teacher, some pictures or videos of the classroom, and a link to an open Zoom chat on Monday, August 24 from 5:30-6:30 p.m. This Zoom meeting is not required, but feel free to pop in to introduce yourself and your child, ask a quick question, or to just see some familiar faces. It is not necessary to be there right at 5:30 or to stay the whole time. In-person and simultaneous learners are welcome!
SIMULTANEOUS LEARNERS: On Monday, August 24 from 3:30-5:00 p.m., you and your child can visit the Eymard Room to pick up materials and to meet your child's teacher in person. You are asked to wear masks and observe social distancing. This should be a brief 5-10 minute visit to allow your child to make a quick connection with his/her teacher and pick up materials. If you can't make it, simply call the school office to arrange a time to pick up the materials.
We look forward to this event as a kick-off to our school year! It may look different, but our teachers have prepared for this event with the love and care they do each year.
REMINDER: If your child is attending school for in-person instruction, you are required to sign and submit the following diocesan form BEFORE they return: SPB Student (K-8) COVID-19 Policy Acknowledgment and Assumption of Risk. You can mail this in or drop it off in the office. Thank you.
Kindergarten-Grade 8 Opening School Information
Students may arrive at school as early at 7:45 am. Students should enter the building by 8:00 am to comfortably arrive in their classrooms by 8:05 am, our official starting time. Students will be considered tardy after 8:05 am and until 9:00 am. After 9:00 am, students will be marked 1/2 day absent.
Back to School Forms/Paperwork
All back-to-school forms may be found on the website at www.saintpaschal.com under Quick Links. Please complete online, print, and return all forms to your child's homeroom teacher by the first day of school, August 26/27.
Assignment Notebooks
Assignment notebooks are required for students in grades 2-8. The notebooks have been paid for by the school and are free to our students.
Parent Open House
Our annual Parent Open House will be held virtually on Thursday, September 3. Meeting invitations will be sent closer to that date. The first session will take place at 6:45 pm and the second session at 7:30 pm. Preschool families will have their Open House during the first week of school. We hope that at least one parent will be able to attend online.
Milk Fee
All milk money is due by Thursday, September 3. The price of milk for the 2020-2021 school year is $45.00 per child, and is NOT included in the price of hot lunch. Please send in the milk money, with your oldest child, in an envelope listing your children's names and room numbers. Milk will be available beginning Wednesday, August 26. Free and reduced milk application forms are available here or may be requested from the school office.
Hot Lunch Program
The price of hot lunch is $3.00 per day. The Hot Lunch Program will begin on Wednesday, August 26. The cost of lunch does not include milk. Your children will be ordering lunch in the morning just as they have been used to, however, instead of coming into the cafeteria and waiting in line, the lunches will be packaged in containers with lids and delivered to their classrooms. Unfortunately, the snack bar will be closed for now.
Hot Lunch Account
You may find out more information about the hot lunch program and point-of-service system that we use to manage your child's account on this parent information letter.
Playground Supervisors
Adults are needed to supervise the children as they play during lunchtime recess. Please complete the Playground Supervisors Letter and return it to the school office as soon as possible.
Grade Level Playground Volunteers
We will continue to need support from our parents as playground monitors. Please read this Playground Volunteer Letter for complete information.
Gradelink
Gradelink is the Student Information System (SIS) which is used for grades, homework, email alerts, and more. Your login information can be found in the first communication folder. There is also a free app for your mobile device. Be sure to log into the system so that you can stay updated on your child's progress and get important information from school.
Chromebooks
Students in grades 5-8 will each receive a Chromebook and participate in a special "Chromebook Boot Camp" on Friday, August 28. Parents are encouraged to read the parent letter for fifth grade students and/or sixth through eighth grade students. The required $30.00 insurance fee is due no later than Friday, August 28.
Webpage/Weekly Family Newsletter/Communication Folders
The Gradelink Student Information System, our Weekly Family Newsletter, and our website are our primary means of communication between home and school. Please become accustomed to checking Gradelink and the Weekly Family Newsletter often, as the communication folders will only be sent home on a very limited basis during this school year. Groups are asked to submit information and flyers electronically.
School Uniforms
All students in K-8 will be permitted to wear their gym uniform to school from August 26-September 11. On days that they do not have gym class, students are permitted to wear school appropriate shorts and an SPB t-shirt. If you do not have an SPB t-shirt, we ask that you wear a school appropriate t-shirt. No sandals, Crocs, or flip flops are permitted.
As of September 14, boys in grades 7-8 may wear navy blue, hunter green, or white polo shirts with or without the school logo instead of shirts and ties, or they can also wear a solid white or light blue dress shirt without a tie. This will be in effect until further notice.
PE Uniforms
Gym uniforms can be ordered by printing this PE Uniform Order Form and returning it to school with a check (payable to SPB) or cash (exact change, please). Many items are in stock and will be given to your child. However, some items may need to be ordered and may take two to three weeks for delivery. Students should wear appropriate PE clothing until uniforms arrive.
Extended Day/Before Care
The Extended Day Program and Before Care will begin on Monday, August 31. All registration forms and fees must be submitted before your child may attend the program. Handbooks and registration forms may be found here: Extended Day or Before Care.
Handbooks
The revised Parent-Student Handbook, Preschool Handbook, and Kindergarten Handbook are available for review at the links above or on our website.
