Toyland Day 2022

Toyland Day is scheduled for Monday, December 12th at Olson. This is a special day where students will rotate through stations in the school designed to teach them new skills and challenge their thinking. Kindergarten through Second Grade will be visiting these active learning stations 8:00 - 11:30 AM. Third through Fifth Grade will participate 11:45 - 2:35 PM. Sixth Grade will not be participating in Toyland Day this year due to a previously planned field trip for choir students.

Students will have physical challenges, mental challenges and design challenges based on their age group. They may learn about new cultures or look at existing topics through a new lens.

Parent volunteers will be helping that day as students move through stations led by some of our teachers.

All students will have lunch in their classrooms that so there will be NO LUNCH VISITORS.

You'll hear a lot of exciting stories when the day is over!

Character Trait:

The Character Trait for the month of December is EMPATHY

Empathy! Empathy is defined as an action of understanding, being aware of, and being sensitive to the feelings, thoughts, and experiences of another person. Empathy is about understanding what it is like to be in another person’s place or position.

In order to show others empathy, we need to understand what they are feeling and respond in kindness. We interact with people every day who have needs, need understanding, or need to be listened to. As we move through our day, we need to pay attention to what is being said and unsaid, as well as what is happening around us.

This time of year, we are finding people in need almost daily. By being empathetic, we take the time to let those around us know that we care about them. This month, show your children what it means and how it feels to do something to impact the lives of others by listening, doing something or “walking in someone else’s shoes.”
