Great Things!
A HUGE thank you to those of you who helped re-arrange classes and cover classroom situations on Tuesday when we were down a teacher sub. I appreciate you all pitching in to make it work!
PD was awesome. I love this staff. You all are so fun to learn with, and are always so willing to play. Thank you for participating and being committed to our learning.
Thank you to the Social Committee for the yummy sweet treats during PD! Such a neat snack!
We had an extra day off for our weekend! Woo Hoo! I hope you enjoyed it and were able to relax and enjoy your time.
Challenge: Power of Love
This week let's focus on the Power of Love and seeing the best in others. When situations occur, look for the best in others, assume positive intent, and focus on the power of love. Try it with your students (pick one or two to really practice this with) or even an adult (teammate, spouse, significant other, etc).
Are you willing to commit to seeing the best in others?

Nuts-n-Bolts:
*Announcements are uploaded and ready to go-Sarah J's p.m. kids continue this week (next week EHS)
*Please remember to complete the CD survey for our CDAT team. We are utilizing the results to help plan the next PD.
*Snack bins were dropped off in each classroom Friday. Please use these to store any dry snacks in your rooms on shelf.
*GEF grant email came out this past week. I have spoken with several of you about great ideas you have had for grants. This is your opportunity! =)
*Reminder: if a student is absent or goes home early, please remember to let that child's bus point person know. We are starting to forget about that piece again, and staff are having to look for/ask around about students when they don't see them in their lines.
*We are hosting a food/socks/underwear drive for the next two weeks if you would like to participate. Flyers are in your boxes. Spirit days apply if you wish to participate. Tuesday, Feb 18th is: bring pb/cheese cracker packs & wear jeans and non-HG top
*Websites were due to be updated by end of the day February 14. Please email me to let me know you have done this if you haven't already done so.
*February book shelving duty: Lyndsey
Speech and Language Tip of the Week:
Play an inferencing game. Get a small box and place an object in the box. Give simple clues and see if the kids can guess what is in the box. Work on asking questions effectively by having the kids use complete sentences when asking, “Is it a car?” Use silly, fun items and the kids will play this game for a long time!
Fine Motor Tip of the Week:
Pencil Grasp
If you have a student that is holding a marker in their fingers (tripod or quadropod) but in a vertical position (not resting in the webspace), teach them to position the shaft of the marker in their open webspace. This is important for a mature grasp and efficient writing and will help reduce motor fatigue. They may need a dot drawn on the webspace for a visual reminder of where to position the marker.
