Every day in school is an opportunity for learning and every minute counts. That's why we encourage families and students to Strive for Less Than 5 days absence each school year.
Every tardy or absence adds up. If your child is leaving early or is absent due to any kind of appointment please get a note from the provider to excuse their absence.
Late Arrival & Early Pick Up
Just a reminder to please call or email: firstname.lastname@example.org if your student will be absent or needs to be picked up early for an appointment.
If your student's end of the day process is going to change please call the office by 3 o'clock pm.
Hey North Oakview Families,
The district has been working over the past couple of years on implementing PBIS (Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports) throughout each of our schools in Northview. District-wide plans to fully implement PBIS are in the works and North Oakview started the process with students at the beginning of the school year. The first step was to define school-wide expectations and prioritize appropriate social, emotional and behavioral skills. Staff taught the expectations to students and we have been, and will continue to, review the expectations with students throughout the school year. These expectations are recorded on a Belonging Matrix, shared in this document, with the focus of our school wide expectations being "Kind, Reliable, and Safe".
The next steps of implementing PBIS at North Oakview is to communicate and share the expectations with families and also make an intentional effort to acknowledge positive behavior with students throughout the school. To do so, staff members will be randomly passing out tickets to students who are "caught" meeting school expectations. Students will then write their name on the ticket and place it in a jar in their classroom. Once a week, student names will be drawn to come receive a special acknowledgement from the principal. If you hear your child talking about getting tickets, feel free to ask them about the behavior that was acknowledged and provide praise as you see fit.
As we move forward in the process, we will share more information with you. For now, please look over the "Belonging Matrix".

Kindness is the Answer
Kindness is the Answer
World Kindness Day was celebrated on Monday, November 13. A group of now published authors shared kindness with teachers and other students by reading their newly released book Kindness is the Answer. This title, chosen by Reese VanWagoner, encourages readers to choose kindness every day.
The co-authors used writing strategies by using because, but, and so to describe to readers what kindness is, why it is important, and times they were kind to others and others were kind to them. After a lot of planning, drafting, and editing the manuscript was sent to the publishing company.
When the book was released, the authors autographed the book and teacher librarian, Mrs. Davies, showed the authors how their book will be a part of the library circulation. Kindness is the Answer is now available for checkout at the North Oakview library for any Wildcat Reader!
The authors spent Monday sharing kindness with entire classrooms and current and past teachers by reading their writing. If you know these authors, please celebrate with them and ask them about their newly released book, Kindness is the Answer.
