The 6 Classes Of Nutrients
The first one is carbohydrates, which give energy to the body and include sugar, starches and fibers. They have 4 calories per gram (calories are the amount of energy in food)
The second is proteins, which are amino acids. They help build and repair structures in the body while regulating processes in the body. They also have 4 calories per gram
The third is fats which are the main form of energy storage in the body. They have over twice as much calories as proteins and carbohydrates with 9 per gram
The next three are usually lumped together
All of these are necessary for the body to live and support itself but have no calories per gram.
