Todd Tells
This is a reminder that Tuesday, November 3 is a student holiday. Also, on Thursday, November 5 we will be administering the beginning of the year math benchmark for ALL 5th grade students. This is very important data we need to collect, so please make every effort to have your student at school on time, well-rested and having eaten a healthy breakfast.
Virtual Learning and Grades
- Common assessments start and end dates
- teacher start date is posted on canvas
- end date is 11:59 pm the following school day(that allows 2 full school days to take the test)
- If there are any extenuating circumstances(sick, death, dr. appt. normal excused absences) please contact the teacher that is giving the assessment.
- Non-excused would be outside sport practices, being at a different house, etc. are not grounds for extending the tests.
- If you are sick/have a dr appt. a school note must be provided, just like if you were face to face.
- Grades-daily
- teacher posts on the canvas page
- teacher will put a due date on the assignment in canvas, after that due date the assignment is subject to point reduction per day, also including the student receiving a zero if it is significantly late(past five days due)
- If you are sick/have a dr. appt. a school note must be provided, just like if you were face to face.
- Zoom
- Students are required to attend the zoom or watch the video for the day(which may not be posted until after school hours)
- Students must display their video/face and first and last names(anyone not complying with this, can result in them being blocked from the zoom.
- If teacher requires them to answer a chat question for attendance purposes, they must also do this or be counted absent from zoom.
- If you are sick/have a dr appt. a school note must be provided, just like if you were face to face.
Please understand that your virtual teachers are treating your kids just like they are face to face. Therefore, the school hours are start at 8:50 am and ends at 4 pm.
Dress Code
Parents, please take time to review Wilkerson's dress code. With our subtropical climate, shorts can be worn almost year round. Our students are growing quickly in 5th and 6th grades - what used to be fingertip length in August, may be much shorter by November. Remember, our students are in P.E. daily and need to be in clothing that is comfortable and providing adequate coverage for their participation in daily activities.
Wilkerson Dress Code
- Pictures, emblems, or writings on clothing that are any of the following are prohibited: lewd, violent, suggestive, offensive, vulgar or obscene, or advertise or depict tobacco products, alcoholic beverages, drugs, weapons or any other prohibited items.
- Halter-tops, racer back shirts, muscle shirts, and spaghetti-straps tops are not permitted unless covered by another shirt. Shirts must fit under the arm so as not to expose undergarments or torso.
- Midriff shirts, or shirts exposing the midsection of the body, are not permitted.
- Make-up/cosmetics may not be worn or applied at school.
- Hats/hoods are not to be worn inside the school.
- Hair and hairstyle should not be distractive. Unnatural hair colors are prohibited.
- Pants/shorts may not be worn lower than undergarments.
- Shorts, dresses and skirts must reach fingertip length when the student rests his/her arms at his/her side (even when leggings/tights are worn underneath).
- Girls are encouraged to wear shorts/tights under their dresses.
- Closed toed shoes with backs must be worn in PE. Tennis shoes are recommended. Flip flops may not be worn during PE.
- Leggings/jeggings may only be worn with a long, loose fitting, flowing top that covers the hips.
- Additionally, any clothing or grooming that in the principal’s judgment may reasonably be expected to cause disruption of or interference with normal school operations will be prohibited.
Please be mindful that we will always do what is best for kids while holding them accountable and pushing them to be their best. If you should ever need anything, please do not hesitate to contact me. Please subscribe to our YouTube channel and "like" us on Facebook. Also "like" our Wilkerson PTO Facebook page. Who Rocks? Clinic News
Howdy Wildcat Family!
The clinic will begin vision and hearing screens the week of Nov 9th. We will be screening fewer kids at a time so this will be a slow process. Make sure your students are bringing their glasses to school every day.
Every student needs to bring a refillable water bottle to school every day! Please consider this a school supply for the year. We have a nice filling station in our gym for the kids.
Clinic Wish List:
*Travel size deodorant (Male/Female)
*Disposable Gloves for Teachers (one size fits all)
*Boxes of Facial Tissue
Thank you so much for your help and support. We are blessed to have such caring families in our community!

❤️📚LAST WEEK of Love Your Library month📚❤️
This is an opportunity for families to purchase great quality, library bound books for our library in honor of your child, teachers, or just because. We strive to make our library an amazing place for students and a very important part of that is providing a plethora of books that kids want and love to read. The more choices students have in their reading, the more they will read.
For every $15 donated, we can purchase a new book for the library, ready to be checked out. 100% of your donation goes to the Wilkerson library! Your child will be the first to check out any books purchased for our library in their honor. The books will all have a donation plate in the front with your child's name. Pictures with them holding their books, will be posted on our social media pages. You may purchase specific titles from our wish list or simply make a donation.
How to donate:
1. Beginning on 10/1/20, go to www.MackinFunds.com. Enter code 8c64 to view
Wilkerson Intermediate's personal webpage.
2. Take a minute to discover the library's needs and why your donation is so
important. Read a letter from your Mrs. Wetzig and watch a video from
your school!
3. Make an easy, online donation to improve your child's library! If you have any questions, contact the library at 832-592-8915. We appreciate every single donation more than you know. Thank you for supporting our readers!
