Importance of Attendance
Dear Parent or Guardian,
One of the best things you can do for your child is to make sure they attend in school every day. After all, we want our kids to have the best possible chance of doing well in school and achieving their dreams. But getting a child to school isn’t always easy. While some absences are understandable, it’s important to understand the impact of each absence.
Although most parents understand the importance of getting their child to school every day, nearly 50% believe that missing three or more days of school per month won’t make a difference. In reality, as early as elementary school, students who miss just 2 school days per month are more likely to fall behind in school, and less likely to graduate from high school. Even when the absences are excused or understandable, absences add up.
