Husky Pup Fun Run
We want to thank our MES PTO and volunteers who helped make the Husky Pup Fun Run such a success. It was so much fun to see our students, families, community members, elementary school alumnae and more come together on the field to make the day extra special for our Husky Pups. We are beyond grateful for this amazing community who came together to donate over $50,000 to our school. The generosity and community spirit within Mammoth Lakes is unmatched. Thank you to our volunteers, especially Lindsay Barksdale, who coordinated the week long event. A special thanks to Mammoth Lakes Police Department, Mammoth Lakes Fire Department, Mammoth Lakes Search and Rescue, Mammoth Mountain Ski Area, Mr. Hammers and MUSD Music, DJ Rick from FreshTracks Entertainment and more for your support. Our students raised over $50,000 for our schools and had fun while they were at it. Please visit our social media pages for photos coming soon!
MES School Site Council
Are you looking to get involved at Mammoth Elementary School this year? If so, please consider joining the MES School Site Council. We are still looking for parents/guardians who can commit to four meetings per year to help develop the school plan for student achievement. For more information about School Site Council, please click here.
If you are interested in joining the MES School Site Council, please contact Denise LaFramboise at dlaframboise@mammothusd.org.
MES Parking Lot
Please remember to pull all the way to the top of the pull through driveway when dropping off students in the morning. If you need to exit your vehicle, please park in the visitor parking lot. It is important for traffic flow and safety that we all work together to keep the cars moving and only have people exit on the passenger side of the vehicles. As the weather turns colder, the driveway can be icy. Please remind your students to step all the way onto the sidewalk and be aware of cars.
Attendance Hotline
MUSD Illness Protocols and Attendance
Please remember that if your child is ill, they should remain home from school. Please do not send your student to school if they have symptoms. Once your student has had no fever in the last 24 hours without the use of fever reducing medications, there are three options to return to school. Your student may get a medical note clearing him/her to return safely to school. OR You can provide documentation of a negative COVID test (negative PCR results can be emailed to: cmoxley@mammothusd.org). OR, lastly, your student may remain out of school for 10 days since symptom onset.
Mono County Public Health weekly Covid-19 testing from 1:45-3:45 at MHS will be changing to Tuesdays 1:45-3:45 at MHS, starting this week on Tuesday, October 5th.
*NEW COVID-19 Rapid Antigen Testing for MUSD at Mammoth Hospital*
Starting October 4th, you can take your students who may be having Covid-19 like symptoms to get a free rapid test BEFORE bringing them to school.
The first week of testing starting October 4th will be Monday-Wednesday (4th-6th) from 7:00-9:00am. Then the following week testing will be offered Monday-Friday from 7:00am-9:00am. Testing will be closed on holidays and weekends. Rapid tests are for symptomatic persons.
Instructions for rapid testing:
Students will present to the Laboratory swabbing area that will be outside in the parking lot. Follow the pre-procedure signage to the Scheduled School Testing Parking spots.
Students will stay in their vehicle and call the phone number (760-924-4203) on the signage for the Lab swabbing room to alert Lab staff to presence.
The Lab swabber will come out and have the student or parent write students name, phone number, grade and/or teacher on a blank pass.
Upon completion of the test lab staff will stamp it with a Mammoth Hospital Laboratory stamp. The student will receive a completed pass only if the test result comes back negative. The swabber will swab the student and tell them to wait in their car for the results (approx. 15 minutes). Once the result has been determined as negative, a pass will be issued to the student to return to school.
If the result comes back positive, the student will be told to return home and they will be contacted by Mono County Public Health.
If you have questions please email Colleen Moxley School Nurse/Health Coordinator @ cmoxley@mammothusd.org

Husky Pup Fun Run
Friday's school portion of the event was so much fun! It was great to see all of the students back on the field running laps, cheering on their friends, and playing around. MESPTO wants to thank all of our incredible sponsors, Mr. Hammers and the MUSD band, DJ Rick at Fresh Tracks Entertainment, MLFD and MLPD, the MES volunteers, staff and students, Woolly and Mammoth Mountain, and all of the mascots for making the day so special. Our students may not fully understand why MESPTO needs to raise money, but after Friday's event, they all know that the Mammoth community believes it's important, and they were proud to be a part of it. We truly can't thank you all enough!
We put together a fun video of the day, that you can watch here!
Thank you so much for all of your support and hard work this week. This year's Fun Run has been another success, and we couldn't have done it without you! MESPTO is accepting online donations through today, and for any cash donations that you may still have, you can still bring those to your teachers on Monday to be included in the prize raffle drawing.
Join us 10/7/21 at 5:30 on Zoom to see how you can get involved with PTO this year.
