NATIONAL HISPANIC HERITAGE MONTH
We celebrate National Hispanic Heritage Month, September 15th to October 15th to recognize the achievements and contributions of Hispanic American champions who have inspired others to achieve success. This is a great opportunity for us to celebrate those whose ancestors came from Spain, Mexico, the Caribbean, Central America, & South America.

PICTURE DAY
FROM THE HEALTH ROOM
Parents of Kinder - Second graders, please remember to pack an extra pair of under ware and pants into your students backpack. Accidents do happen and it's helpful to give the student a change of their own clothing.
Have you wondered when you should keep your student home with allergy or asthma symptoms? Click on the PDF flyer below to learn more.
If your student appears to be sick and you're unsure if you should send them to school, click on the below PDF as a guideline. Also, Nurse Nicole is always happy to answer any questions you may have. You may contact her at 253-298-3308.
KEEPING STUDENTS SAFE
To keep our students and staff safe at school we all need to wear masks at school each day. If a student is not consistently wearing a mask at school and there is an incident of Covid in the classroom that student must quarantine away from school for up to 14 days. Please continue to work with your children about the need to always wear a mask over the mouth and nose.
CPWI COMMUNITY SURVEY
YOUR COMMUNITY, YOUR VOICE
Help us continue to support prevention education programs in your community and schools. Franklin Pierce Youth First is asking community members to take a brief survey. Upon completing the survey, take a screenshot and send it to rmorales@fpschools.org, and your name will be entered in a raffle for a $50 gift card.
ATTENDANCE MATTERS
• Set a regular bed time and morning routine.
• Lay out clothes and pack backpacks the night before.
• Don’t let your child stay home unless he/she is truly sick. Keep in mind complaints of a stomach ache or headache can be a sign of anxiety and not a reason to stay home.
• If your child seems anxious about going to school, talk to teachers, school counselors, or other parents for advice on how to make him/her feel comfortable and excited about learning.
• Develop back-up plans for getting to school if something comes up. Call on a family member, a neighbor, or another parent.
• Avoid medical appointments and extended trips when school is in session.
