FLE Communication Boards!
You may have seen some new communication boards installed on our FLE Playground and in our gym. These communication boards are the result of the hard work and dedication of one of our fabulous Falcon teachers, Ms. Eleanor Clark, and her RISE team, Ms. Kimberly and Ms. Stephanie. Ms. Eleanor was awarded a grant to bring these communication boards to our students to empower ALL voices. Not all students have the ability to communicate their needs or feelings with words, and these boards act as a tool for students to access when they have something to express. We are so proud to bring this resource to FLE to ensure ALL of our students are heard. Please see the video below from Ms. Eleanor explaining the boards. Wahoo!!
Red Ribbon Week
October 23rd to October 31st is Red Ribbon Week! Red Ribbon Week focuses on helping youth stay drug free, and at FLE we expand it further by focusing on "making healthy choices" to include staying hydrated, getting appropriate sleep, and exercising each day. For more information about Red Ribbon Week, please visit: https://www.redribbon.org/
Fall Festival: October 27th!
It is about that time, Falcon Families! FLE's Annual Fall Festival is upon us! Join us on Friday, October 27th, from 5 to 7 pm for family friendly games and fun! We will be serving hot dogs, chips, and drinks, and the kids can enjoy a variety of activities set up throughout our school. As in year's past, we would greatly appreciate bags of candy to be donated towards the event. Students from our local high school clubs will be joining to help keep everything moving, but if you are interested in volunteering please attend our next Falcon NEST Meeting on Thursday, October 12th at 4:15 in the FLE Library.
In addition to our Fall Festival, we will be running a canned food drive for the upcoming holiday season. If you are in a position to do so, please consider bringing a canned food item to the Fall Festival. Thank you!
Explorations-we need VOLUNTEERS!
The FLE Staff is excited to bring back our EXPLORATIONS activities for our students. For those of you who are not familiar, EXPLORATIONS are interest based activities that the students can participate in. Depending upon student grade level, the activities range in topic based on what our FLE staff and the EXPLORATIONS Leads create. For example, if you visit our school you may see several mosaics around the building. These are products of past year's EXPLORATIONS groups. We have also hosted Nature Trail Skills, Spanish, Cooking, Art-you name it! If you would like to get involved and help us during EXPLORATIONS as an activity leader or an assistant, please fill out the Google Form below! We would like to begin advertising the activities to students and families as soon as we can, so if you are able to help please let us know! Thank you!
What: EXPLORATIONS! Interest based activities that students can select to be a part of. Topics range from Art to Cooking to Nature Trail Skills-anything you can think of for an elementary school audience!
Who: All students participate in EXPLORATIONS. Grades 3, 4, and 5 will be in combined activities together, while our other grade levels will be more teacher/classroom specific.
When: 5 Mondays starting November 20th through December 18th (again-this will be dependent upon grade level needs*). Grades 3, 4, and 5 will be from 2:15 to 3:15 on these days. Our younger grades are still deciding their times, but we wanted to get the word out!
What we need from parents: Volunteers! Even if you cannot lead an activity, helping coordinate and supervise students is always appreciated! Cannot come into the building? We might put out a call for supplies-so be on the lookout! Thank you for all that you do!
