Alumnus Haywood Creates Mural as Part of Suburban Station Renovation
As part of a renovation to Center City’s Suburban Station, up and coming artist Arthur Haywood ’08 recently completed the mural “Ride the Sky,” celebrating the joy of riding trains at the 17th and JFK Blvd. entrance to SEPTA’s regional rail lines.
The mural depicts individuals of all ages riding clouds of steam emanating from an old Pennsylvania Railroad Baldwin train. Haywood painted, then scanned figures and parts of the train before he added the background and clouds and parts of the train digitally. The project was developed through the Philadelphia Mural Arts Program and real estate firm Athenian Razak. Roe Fabricators printed and installed the digital version of the mural. Read more>
