Colton Hills School Bulletin
21 July 2023
Introduction by Mr Blower, Acting Headteacher
Welcome to our final bulletin of the 2022-23 academic year!
Before we go into the summer, we are delighted to share with you all of the exciting things that have happened in school during this last half-term. There has never been more to be proud of at our school, and I am delighted that students have been able to experience so much in and beyond their school curriculum.
In this bulletin, you can see highlights from our PGL residential, Sports Day, Celebration Evening and our first school show in over 15 years, plus much much more. Of course, amongst all of the summer celebrations we have also been conducting the important work of the school, so do look out for our newly-redesigned school reports that should give you all the information needed to support your child.
I hope you have enjoyed our bulletins this year, and we will be back with them in September. My thanks must go to Ms Foo, our Communications and Marketing Officer, who has done a fantastic job in sharing the successes of school life better than we ever have before.
I would like to take this opportunity to wish you a restful summer with your families, and look forward to seeing students back ready to learn in September. Happy holidays!

Sports Day Highlights
PGL School Trip
Over the weekend of 7th -9th July, a group of forty-four pupils from year 8 and 9 had the opportunity to visit the PGL Borreatton Adventure Park in Shropshire. The trip was filled with exciting activities that aimed to promote selected High Performance Learning (HPL) values such as Perseverance, Resilience, Self-Regulation, and Confidence, which the PGL staff readily incorporated into their programme.
The pupils participated in a variety of thrilling activities, including Abseiling, Laser tag, Zip wiring, Archery, Aeroball, and a Sensory trail. These activities not only provided an adrenaline rush but also allowed the students to develop and showcase the desired values. The PGL staff ensured that the activities were engaging and meaningful, aligning with the educational objectives of the school.
The behaviour and attitudes of the Colton Hills pupils during the trip were exceptional, reflecting their strong character and principles. The students represented the school admirably and received high praise from the PGL staff.
Overall, the trip to PGL Borreatton Adventure Park was a tremendous success. The pupils had an unforgettable experience, participating in various activities that fostered important ethics while creating lasting memories. The exemplary conduct displayed by the Colton Hills pupils further strengthened the school's reputation, and the prospect of future visits to the PGL site has been eagerly anticipated. We would also like to thank all the staff who help organised the trip and took time to accompany the students on this outing.
