Husky Howler
March 12, 2021
Dear Hill-Roberts Families:
It's amazing to consider that we've reached the one-year anniversary of everything shutting down due to COVID-19. Much has changed since that day and it's easy to get caught up in all the negative ways we've been impacted. It's important to remember that while it has been a difficult year, there have been positives too. Maybe you took advantage of the time you were forced to stay home to take up a new hobby or maybe being forced to stay home helped you grow closer as a family. There has been a lot of research about Post Traumatic Growth and the resiliency of humans in the aftermath of traumatic events. This entry from Scientific American is a fairly quick read for anyone interested in learning more.
As Supt. Sawyer's message this week stated, Attleboro Public Schools, Grades K-6, will be reopening fully in-person on Monday, April 5, 2021. We look forward to seeing all our students together again. We will be sending out any additional updates as we move closer to the opening date. If you have any questions regarding full in-person learning, please reach out.
Lastly, don't forget to change your clocks as Daylight Savings is this weekend!
Sincerely,
Frank W. Rich, Principal
Pooled Surveillance Testing
Both of our testing groups came back negative this week.
We are excited that our Kindergarten Huskies will begin being a part of our pooled-testing program starting Monday. In order for this program to be successful, we need to have as high a participation rate as possible. As it currently stands, we only have 51% of our K through 4th graders participating.
If you have previously responded, "No" on the consent but wish to change your answer, you can follow the same steps (see below) and complete the consent form again. This is also true if you have previously responded, "Yes" on the consent but want to change your answer.
For more information please see the FAQ document that was created to answer questions surrounding the pooled testing program. The video below shows a first-grade and a fourth-grade Hill-Roberts student demonstrating the procedure.

This Week in PE
Hello Hill-Roberts Parents and Families!
In physical education class, our huskies have been learning about the history of the largest sporting event in the world, the Olympics! The Olympic sports that we have done up to today are Curling, Hockey, Track and Field, Gymnastics, and Soccer. Students participated in our school's version of all events during their scheduled physical education time. Our huskies have been taking some time at the end of class to work on individual skills with a piece of equipment of choice! All students have also been learning all about how important it is to exercise and get our bodies moving during at-home learning days! How does your family stay active while remote learning? Please share pictures, videos, and/or stories to ksandrade@attleboroschools.com
