TCHS Cougar Community Newsletter
October 13th, 2022
As a part of this year's One LISD theme, our district is more committed than ever to bringing our communities closer together. One way we plan to do so is by sending newsletters to each feeder pattern throughout the 2022-23 school year. Our hope is that these newsletters give you a glimpse into the great things happening at LISD schools and inform you of any upcoming community opportunities.
Happy Homecoming!
We had a blast celebrating Homecoming with The Colony community. This year's theme was "Once Upon a Homecoming," and staff and students dressed up accordingly. The TCHS feeder pattern participated in various events throughout the week including a parade, pep rallies and of course Friday's Homecoming game.

Life on the LPGA Tour With The Colony and Hebron HS
With the Ladies Professional Golf Association (LPGA) in town, students at The Colony and Hebron High Schools got a day-in-the-life experience of what it’s like on Tour this week. The Ascendant LPGA Benefiting Volunteers of America hosted their annual tournament on Sept. 29 – Oct. 2 at Golf Clubs at The Tribute in The Colony. In partnership with Atmos Energy, 85 female student-athletes from The Colony High School made their way on to The Tribute to learn about careers in professional sports and receive a golf clinic from LPGA professionals. “In terms of this event itself, not just The Colony, but the whole community in the area, everyone has been so supportive of the Ascendant LPGA Benefiting Volunteers of America,” Payton Walker, Marketing Coordinator with Outlyr in conjunction with the LPGA, said. Ethridge's Golden Ticket
Among the pantheon of storied children’s authors, the works of Roald Dahl stand tall as a, presumably, big and friendly giant. Dahl’s stories have touched the imaginations of kids and adults alike on the page and on the silver screen, and Ethridge librarian Stephanie Pierce is helping bring them to life for her students. To commemorate the author’s 106th birthday, Pierce shared selections of Dahl’s works with her students. At the same time, she introduced a surprise element courtesy of Willy Wonka himself. “It was Roald Dahl’s birthday – September 13th – so we celebrated by reading parts of his novels,” said Pierce. “I hid Golden Tickets in [ten] books, but I didn’t tell the kids, otherwise they would tear up my library,” she finished with a laugh.
