Board Commendations
The Board commended Boerne ISD students and staff, as well as celebrated district-wide honors. Below are some of the honorees.
Innovative DistrictWe celebrated another national recognition, as Boerne ISD was named a 2022 Innovative District by The International Center for Leadership in Education, otherwise known as ICLE. Boerne ISD was one of only eight Innovative Districts from across the United States that were invited to share its best practices at ICLE’s 30th Annual Model Schools Conference in June. BISD’s presentation, titled “Put me in Coach! Meeting the Needs of all Learners Through Transformational Coaching”, was led by Chief Instructional Officer Larissa Flores, along with Early Childhood Education Director Renee Munn and Secondary English Language Arts Coordinator Dr. Jayne Burton, as well as Principals Jamie Robinson from Boerne Middle School South) and Krista Pomeroy (Cibolo Creek Elementary). At the model schools conference, the BISD team shared details on how the implementation of an Instructional Coaching program has resulted in professional reflection and steady growth for teachers and students. Higher levels of Student Engagement, Rigor, and Relevance are evident. BISD was named an Innovative District for its systemwide focus on instruction and organization structures to increase student growth. Boerne ISD team leaders worked relentlessly to develop a vision focused on the needs of their students and community. | Boerne ISD MuralWe recognized Boerne High School Art Teacher Darcy Baird and BISD Students for creating a mural that now decorates Central Office. In the Fall of 2020, Boerne ISD offered students the opportunity to attend school virtually. Mrs. Baird became an E-Learning Teacher for elementary Art, Music, PE as well as one Advance Art class at BHS. She wanted to keep these students connected with each other and their school community. It was important to her to get students to feel they were part of something bigger than the little spot they attended virtual school from. This is when the idea for a collaborative mural transpired. Thanks to the Boerne Education Foundation for the funding and Boerne High School’s support, Mrs. Baird was able to purchase, distribute, and collect supplies for the students. The components of this mural were painted mainly by Kindergarten thru 5th-grade students. Along with those are 9th thru 12th-grade students, some of the administrators from their campuses, a few community members, and the Superintendent of BISD. This stands to remind us that we are “In this Together”. *Please see a photo of the mural below | Bachelor's Degree Dr. Price and the board congratulated Boerne ISD Bond Project Director Mark Stahl, who completed his degree from the University of Texas Permian Basin. Mark was previously with BISD and left to pursue the completion of his degree, which he did last week. Boerne ISD sends our congratulations to Mark and appreciates his hard work for our community. |

Boerne ISD Receives 3rd Consecutive 'A' Rating from TEA
Boerne ISD received its third-consecutive ‘A’ rating with a grade of 94 in The Texas Education Agency’s state-wide Student Testing and Accountability ratings for the 2021-22 school year. In addition, BISD also received a district record 21 distinction designations, which acknowledges districts and campuses for outstanding achievement based on the outcomes of several performance indicators. BISD is among only 1% of districts across the state who have received an 'A' rating in each of the three rating periods.
The district also received ‘A’ ratings in the 2017-2018 and 2018-19 school years. The TEA did not rate school districts in the 2019-2020 or 2020-21 school year due to the pandemic. Only 33% (396) of nearly 1,200 school districts statewide received an ‘A’ rating for the 2021-22 school year, with BISD being one of them.
