He was killed on December 18, 1989 by a mail bomber. This benevolent foundation works to provide a deserving student with assistance in obtaining his/her goals in higher education.

We strongly encourage applicants to make sure their applications and accompanying information are forwarded early. An incomplete application will not be considered. It is each applicants responsibility to make sure that all documentation is received.

Board Feature

Helen Minchew

After serving on the board for almost 20 years, Mrs. Helen Minchew is just as excited about education as she was when her young children began their journeys through Richmond County Schools. A life-long learner herself, Mrs. Minchew is an avid reader (Agatha Christie is one of her favorites), enjoys politics, and will soon be a world traveler (upcoming trip to Europe)! The biggest influences in her life were her mother and father; she shared, "My dad worked hard and instilled in me a love of country and family, and my mom's compassion and faith taught me care for others." These traits guide Mrs. Minchew's "hope for all students to graduate and be prepared for life after high school." She later added, "These children are our future and my hope is that they can all support themselves and live happy lives." Mrs. Minchew loves living in Augusta because of its people, accessibility, climate, and good neighbors—what else could a person need?
