Week of March 14-18

What A Fun Week!

Monday-What a fun picture day! We took a class picture and individual pictures. Students did a great job of smiling! In writing, we wrote about what we would do if we found a pot of gold. Students did a great job of generating lists of ideas and then choosing a topic to write about. The most popular idea was to save the gold. In PE, the "Tennis Lady" visited the classes to talk with the students about the Go Bananas and tennis program. Your child brought home a few flyers about it. What fun!

Tuesday-What a busy and fun Tuesday! Our fifth grade book buddies visited our classroom and we read our favorite non-fiction book with them. For our guidance lesson, students continued to talk about Arehart Owl and how to work quietly. During literacy, we switched it up a bit and read our non-fiction Let's Find Out about ducklings.

Wednesday-STEM Project Day! Students designed and built a leprechaun trap. Students had to create a trap out of supplies that parents supplied. We had so much fun designing and building. The students were so proud of their work, that we participated in a gallery walk to look at all of the traps. We are also excited to share these at Community Night with our families! We also continued to practice asking questions to each other. Students created their own mustaches and practiced saying "I 'Mustache' You A Question" with partners. Everyone is doing such a great job of asking purposeful questions.

Thursday-Happy St. Patrick's Day! We had a very fun day in Kindergarten. Lucky the Leprechaun visited our classroom while we were outside at recess. He left green footprints all over the room and a message on the board. He also left two pieces of "gold" at each child's trap. Very exciting! We also created a fun rainbow craft which highlighted sight words that we know. Check out the picture below. In math, we sorted, counted, and graphed Lucky Charms. Thank you to all families who came to Community Night. Students really enjoyed sharing their work with their families. The photo booth was great fun. Check out the pictures below.

Friday-We had a fun Friday! Students participated in an engineering project with Ms. White. Students were given two "Peeps". With partners, students had to create a floating device to protect their "Peeps" from getting wet. Using only certain materials were used like cups, cardboard, tape, and string. In our entire class, none of the "Peeps" got wet! We had 100% success rate. Wonderful job! There are fun pictures below.
