Hello, Longwood Families!
We had a fantastic first week back at school! It was wonderful to have all of our lions back in the building. We're recharged and ready for a new year of learning and fun! While the snow day cut our week a bit short, we appreciate everyone for making the most of our e-Learning day. Thank you to our teachers for preparing meaningful learning opportunities, our students for their dedication and flexibility, and to our families for their support! We hope everyone was able to enjoy the day.
No School Monday and Tuesday: As a friendly reminder, there is no school on Monday and Tuesday this week. We look forward to welcoming students back on Wednesday, January 17th. *Doors Open 9:00 due to late start Wednesday*
iReady Benchmarking Testing: This week we will begin the Winter round of Benchmarking testing for math. Reading will be completed the week of January 22nd. Benchmarking is an important opportunity to assess students' progress and tailor our instruction to meet their individual needs. Students can be best prepared for testing by getting a good night's rest and charging their Chromebook.
Quarter 2 Report Cards: Report cards will be available in ParentVue on Friday after 4:00pm. We encourage you to take time to review the report card with your child. This discussion provides an excellent opportunity to celebrate achievements, set goals, and reinforce the importance of learning. If you have any questions regarding how to access the report card, please call the main office at 630-428-6789.
Read Under the Stars: We will close out our week with a "Read under the Stars" event in the LMC on Friday, January 19th! Students can bring a favorite blanket and enjoy time reading their favorite books in the LMC.
Have a wonderful weekend, Lions! Thank you for being a part of our Pride!
Longwood Lions go outside for lunch/recess and extra recess as long as the "feels like" temperature is 5 degrees or above. Fresh air and time to play outside are good for our students! We try to get get them outside as much as the weather allows, even in the winter months. If we can support your family with any winter clothing items, including coats, gloves, boots, or snow pants, please call the main office at 630-428-6789 to be connected with Mrs. Lome, our Social Worker. We have many brand new items available!
District 204 follows a plan whenever there is consideration of holding an e-learning day or canceling school due to weather conditions. If the district holds an e-learning day or cancels school completely, the information will be announced by 6 am on www.ipsd.org. The district will also make a 204 Connect phone call by 6 AM to alert parents and guardians of the information. Parents and students can also check the Emergency Closing Center for school closings. For more information, visit the district’s e-Learning webpage.
