efunds for schools
Online payments are now available through eFunds for Schools.
We are pleased to offer a service for parents called e-Funds for Schools. This user-friendly program offers various options for parents/guardians who choose to make online payments for meals and school fees.
Parents will have the option of paying fees by having funds electronically withdrawn from their checking account, credit card, or debit card. e-Funds will charge parents a convenience fee for processing payments, similar to other online banking services. The district will not request or keep records of family checking or credit card account information.
FREE Breakfast & Lunch for all Students!
Washington Community Schools is pleased to announce that ALL students K-12 will be provided with FREE breakfast and lunch for the upcoming 2022-23 school year.
For the last two years, the USDA has provided free school meals for all students to help families in response to the pandemic. That program was discontinued at the end of the 2021-2022 school year.
WCS has participated in CEP (Community Eligibility Program) for our elementary students since 2018. This program provides free breakfast and lunch for students, regardless of income, and the district is reimbursed using a formula based on the percentage of students categorically eligible for free school meals and other assistance programs.
WCS recently applied for and was granted eligibility for participation in CEP for all K-12 students district-wide for the 2022-23 school year. This program provides tremendous savings to our families, which adds up to approximately $740.00 per student per year.
Please note that only a USDA school meal will be given to students free of charge. Each day, your child is offered a lunch containing the following: a meat or meat alternative, a grain, a fruit, a vegetable, and a milk. Out of these 5 food groups your child is offered, he or she must choose at least 3 food groups for his or her meal. One of the food groups must be a fruit or vegetable. If your child chooses not to take at least 3 out of 5 food groups, the meal will be charged to your child’s account, and parents will be responsible. Any extras or ala carte items will be charged to your child’s account as well. Please see our website for additional information as to what
constitutes a school meal.
If you believe you may qualify for textbook fee assistance, we still encourage you to complete an application for the 2022-23 school year during registration.
If you have any questions, please feel free to contact WCS Central Office at (812) 254-5536.
Transportation has been one of the greatest obstacles in creating a transition plan for grade level centers. Washington Community Schools has worked tirelessly for the past year with consultants to solve these challenges by creating a plan that is safer and more efficient.
Elementary students in the same household will continue to ride the bus together. For most students bus numbers and bus stops will remain the same, however, the pick-up time in the morning will be approximately 15 minutes earlier, similar to the 2019 pre-pandemic schedule. Buses will visit all three elementary schools in town, eliminating the need for a transfer bus at the high school.
As with the 2019 pre-pandemic schedule, the main entrance to the buildings will open at 7:30 am, allowing parents time to drop off students. The Washington Police Department will assist with traffic at the beginning of the school year.
If you have any questions, please contact your child's school.
Back to School Nights!
Families will be able to meet their teachers, visit their classrooms, and drop off school supplies.
