STEM Integrated Learning Team (ILT)

Integrating Math, Science, Technology, and Engineering

STEM Integrated Learning Team (ILT) meetings will give teachers the opportunity to work collaboratively within an integrated STEM learning environment. This learning will include work in three strategic areas-

STEM Community Connections:

  • Teachers will work with STEM professionals from the EUP MiSTEM Advisory Council to align STEM education with career paths.

Innovative STEM Programming:

  • Teachers will work in collaborative PLC teams to apply Problem-Based Learning and Place-Based Learning Principles to develop integrated STEM lesson plans

Mathematical Modeling Series - Dr. Robert Kipka, Lake Superior State University:

  • Teachers will learn how to engage students in mathematical modeling through interesting phenomena such as trout populations, Upper Peninsula Wolf populations, and coding. Instruction will take into account a K-12 perspective and will include thinking around mathematical modeling at various grad bands. This learning will get at the computational thinking that is so important as technology is increasingly interweaving with all content areas and career fields.
