Questioning to Raise Rigor

The types of questions that you ask in your classroom are vital to student achievement. Prompting students to guide them through their thinking process and asking higher order questions contributes to the rigor in the classroom. Take a sneak peek at the pic to the left that contain characteristics of good questioning!

Technology Tip of the Week - Seesaw

Seesaw is an online platform where you can have your students create their own digital portfolio based off of the work they do in your classroom. It is iPad friendly and great for parent conferences. You can give parents access to their child's portfolio to see what work they've done in their class. You can even see how many times a student's parent has gone to view their child's work! Check it out by visiting the link below.

EdCamp East - March 12th

EdCamp East is back! EdCamp is a type of PD where the attendees create the sessions and have opportunities to work with other teachers around the county, as well as surrounding counties. It is a free session and they will provide breakfast and lunch. They also have free educational goodies to give as well. See you there! You can sign up by visiting this link -->bit.ly/edcampeastnc

Take5 - Throughout the school year

if you're in need of CEU's, the technology department offers online, self paced courses throughout the year. You can check them out by visiting this link - http://wcstech.weebly.com/current-course-offerings.html. Let me know if you have any questions! :-)

Friday Institute PD

Visit this link to see what online courses the Friday Institute is offering. Each class that is completed will be worth around 2 CEU's. All classes are self paced.

Attention, Attention!

If you have any important info that you need displayed on the Speight's webpage or Facebook page, please let Ms. Baugh know! Parents have been looking at our webpage and our Facebook and we want to keep them informed!

Also, if you're incorporating technology into your lessons, please take some pics and share them with me! I can add them to our newsletter and school website! Thanks! :-)
