Message from the Principal
Good Afternoon Dragon Family:
We are very thankful for the flexibility and resilience displayed by students, staff, and families as we quickly transitioned to Virtual Learning last week. We understand it's not easy for parents and we appreciate all of you. We are currently planning a return to in-person school on Tuesday 1/18. Please remember Monday 1/17 is Martin Luther King Jr. Day and there is no school.
We are certainly hopeful to avoid any more disruptions to school and extracurricular activities. We encourage all individuals to wear a mask at school and school activities when social distancing is not possible. Students should stay home with covid-like symptoms including fever, body aches, and persistent coughing. These efforts will help us stay in school and avoid missing any more events.
I'm enormously proud of students and staff for their quick transition to virtual learning. There were no complaints and everyone did their best to make sure student learning continued as best as possible. I was truly inspired by their efforts and positive attitude. Thank you as well to our parents and guardians for your support and the numerous messages of encouragement we received. It means a lot!
We also would like to thank all of our front-line workers especially all healthcare workers. Thank you for your efforts to keep us all safe and healthy. We understand the challenges all of you have faced. We continue to pray for you.
Jason

Winter MAP Assessments Update
We will complete our Winter MAP Assessments this week for the following two grades/courses. The shift to virtual delayed our ability to conduct make-up tests. We hope to have all assessment completed by the end of the day on Tuesday, 1/18.
- 9th/10th Grade Reading Assessments (English Classes)
- 9th/10th Grade Math Assessments (Math Classes)
Map assessments measure student progress in the critical areas of math and reading. We only assess freshman and sophomores. Parents will be provided detailed results for their individual students once assessments are completed. Parents will be able to measure their students progress from the fall assessments.
Please don't hesitate to contact me if you have questions. You can also contact your student's math or english teacher for help.
School and Student Safety
Upcoming Emergency Drills and Safety News
- We will conduct a Security Drill this week on Wednesday @ 9:15 AM (beginning of 2nd hour). This is a required drill. A security drill must be completed within the first 15 days of each semester. The security drill this week will be a Lockdown Drill which was formerly called a Hard Lockdown drill. A lockdown implies that there is an immediate threat to the school rather than a generalized threat to the area. This is only a drill this week
- We will notify concurrent/Internship students of the drill through a remind app that was established for all students who may be off campus during a lockdown. The purpose of this remind app is to alert students who may be off-campus to stay or return home in the case of an emergency.
- This week a student suffered a minor medical incident in one of our classrooms. The teacher was able to use our RAVE Alert system to immediately call for help. As a result an administrator was able to immediately respond in less than a minute. Fortunately the student was fine and there was no need to alert emergency services. We are grateful for the RAVE alert system and other tools that allow us to keep kids safe.
