A Note From Pre-K
Hi Pre-K Eagles,
This week we will be diving deeper into content from the previous week. While the content is the same, the work will be different.
Parents, please send your teacher pictures of your student doing some of the assignments by email.
Eagles Soar!

Reading
Here is a link to the story The Tale of Peter Rabbit by Rose Bryne that your child can listen to from home on StorylineOnline.net. If you do not have access to storyonline.net you may choose any book from home.
Then, read your favorite books at home for 15 minutes or use storyonline, get epic, or reading a to z to listen to books.
After you finish your reading for the day, complete a writing response. Don’t forget to label your pictures with beginning sounds.

Alphabet Work
This week, review all letters and sounds. Have fun reviewing letters and sounds by going on a scavenger hunt around your home. Draw pictures of objects you find that begin with each letter! https://drive.google.com/file/d/1KODqogaKNeNOv3gsNje1I7A1nhDvhSUO/view?usp=sharing
- Practice writing name. If your child can write their first name independently, start on last name! Remember the only letter that should be capital is the first one.
Writing
Here is an example of a reading response your child can do after listening to the story. You may complete on your own paper at home.
Have your child retell and draw the beginning, middle and end to the story read.Be sure to label your pictures.
Math

2. Review shapes this week by drawing a monster, animal, house, robot, etc. only using shapes (square, rectangle, oval, triangle, rectangle). You can do this on your own paper at home. We would love to see what you create! Please send pictures of your creations!
Science
Students will do a cut and sort. Look at the pictures and sort between living and non-living things.
Take a nature walk and draw three things that are living and three things that are non living.
Social Studies
Review the four seasons with your child. Talk about what the weather is like, what the trees look like and activities your family likes to do in each season. Ask questions and have your student respond by identifying the weather in each picture (see slide below). Then have them tell you and show what they know about different kinds of weather.
Show the pictures of children wearing a variety of clothing and weather gear. Have your student dress up in the clothing and act out using the gear. Have family members guess the weather represented.
Invite children to draw a picture of their favorite kind of weather that shows what they would wear and activities they would do. Have htem tell family members about their picture.

Social/Emotional Learning
Intergrating motivation into the curriculum:
- Creating a timeline or visual calendar to monitor their progress.
- Creating an at-home incentive system. Ex:Student completes 3 math problems and earns a...(snack, ply outside, etc.). I will read for ... minutes and then I can play on my (phone, x-box, puzzle, outside) for the same amount of time.
- Increase interest through lessons that incorporate topics or skills that excite them.
- Allow for student communication with family, teachers, and peers. Being able to share the progress they have amde with their teacher can be exciting.
- Both teachers and parents can give frequent feedback and communication to students who struggle more with motivation. Positive feedback is a great motivational tool.
- Allow students choice: Can we change the order of task completion? Can we choose tasks the student enjoys like a choice board? Can they listen to music while they complete tasks? Can they complete assignments in a different location (under table) or with a different tool (colorful pen)?
