## What we're learning

In class we are learning how to calculate percents. Some of these percents are commission, tips, discounts, taxes, and mark ups.

## Calculating Commissions Commissions is the amount of money someone makes off of someone else's sale. Some examples of people who make commission are car sales man, realtor, etsy, and eBay. It's calculated by the percent of a number. | ## Calculating Discounts The discount is the amount that is saved on a purchase. A discount is calculated by finding a percent of a number then you subtract it from the original amount. | ## Calculating all the tips, mark ups, and taxes Tips, mark ups, taxes are all calculated by finding a certain percent of a number then adding it to the original number.it is the addition to the bill |

## Calculating Commissions

My example of tips and taxes is at Derry Queen. They have my favorite drink there ( Strawberry Julius ). | I ordered a strawberry Julius and a hot fudge Sunday. The cost of my meal was $5.29. Tax in summit county is 6.75% so the tax on my meal was $0.36. So now my total cost is $5.65 | My waiter did a good job at my table. So I chose to leave him a tip of $1.13. So my total cost of my meal was $6.78 |

## Commission
