The Sugar Act of 1764

The Parliament; Lauren Haughey and Kaela Fender

The Sugar Act is for the good of the people

We are increasing the price of taxes to produce and manufacture goods such as sugar, indigo, coffee, wine, and foreign produce. Unlike the molasses act, the sugar act will only tax 3 pence per gallon, opposed to the 6 pence per gallon. This will stop the smuggling of foreign foods across the border, and will pay for the military cost of protecting the colonists.
