Alan Turing and the old computers
This is Alan Turing!
Alan Turing was the father of the first computers. He was known to be the founder of computer science and also helped during WWII. Alan Turing helped decipher the code used by the Germans. The Germans had invented a machine called the enigma device and it was very difficult to crack. However, Turing created the 'bombe' designed to crack the code.
Short biography of Alan Turing
Alan Turing was born on June 23, 1912. He was raised in London, England. When he was in school, he was very intelligent and ended up studying maths and science. In his life he made many great inventions and died when he was 42 in 1954.
A few pictures
The Bombe machine
The bombe machine was the machine invented to decode the German codes made by the Enigma machine.
The Enigma machine
The Enigma machine was used to code and decode German files and other secret things. With an enigma machine, it's easy to decode the files however without one it is extremely difficult so the Bombe machine was created.
A plan for the Turing machine
The Turing machine was a device used to calculate maths. It was very basic but it paved the way for later machines.
