Relay For Life
The Relay For Life movement is dedicated to helping communities attack cancer. Through funds donated, time given, or awareness raised, our communities are teaming up - virtually or in-person - to make a difference. When we rally together in the fight against cancer, we can accomplish anything.
Counselor's Corner
Hi Titan families!
As we move through February, we hope your family is participating in the Self-Love Challenge posted in last week’s issue. Take time this month to take care of yourself and focus on the ones you love. This month’s character trait is fairness. We encourage all students to treat others the way they want to be treated, play by the rules, take turns/share, and respect others who are different than us. In honor of Black History Month, consider these words by Martin Luther King Jr.: “Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere.”
Please continue to get your children to school each day and send excuse notes when they are absent. See below for each grade level's attendance goal (percentage of absent students between 6-10 days) for the month of February. We can do it, Titans!
February Attendance Goals:
(Percentage of students absent)
Kindergarten - 41%
1st Grade - 33%
2nd Grade - 32%
3rd Grade - 30%
4th Grade - 32%
5th Grade - 25%
Congratulations to 5th grade (1st place) and 3rd grade (runner up) for meeting the January attendance goal. Peanut Butter, Benefield’s pet hamster, will be visiting with the fifth-grade classes and third grade will choose his treats. Also, congrats to Ms. Rajan, Ms. Haynes, Ms. Beaumier, and Ms. Fouce’s classes for being drawn as January's READY attendance raffle winners!!! Their classes were rewarded with Snowie snow cones on Friday.
Lastly, we would like to thank everyone for all of the expressions of love that we received this week during National School Counseling Week. We are feeling extremely special and grateful!! You Rock!!!
Safety is a priority at Benefield!
If your child is exhibiting symptoms, please keep them home and notify the teacher via email. It is important to do a wellness assessment each morning before sending your child to school. Check for temperature and symptoms using the checklist below:
□ Fever (100.4° or higher)
□ Headache
□ Sore throat
□ Cough
□ New loss of taste or smell
□ Fatigue
□ Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing
□ Congestion or runny nose
□ Muscle or body aches
□ Nausea or vomiting
□ Diarrhea
Safety at Car Riders
We would like to provide you with some reminders about our safety procedures for car riders. We are adding one more of the utmost importance:
Never drop children off at carriers after 8:45 when staff is already in the building. This puts your child in danger. If you arrive after the doors close, please check your child in at the front office.
Please remember:
1. Please have your child ready to exit the car. For example, have their shoes on and bookbag in hand ready to get out after the vehicle has stopped.
2. Please do not exit your vehicle. If assistance is needed a member of the staff will support your child.
4. Car rider doors will close at 8:45 so that our staff can provide instruction.
Kids Heart Challenge
The challenge closes on March 18, 2022.
