Hooch Happenings

Todd's Tidbits
Hooch Families,
I hope this edition of our SMORE newsletter finds you in good health and spirits! I know that information regarding the School Governance Council (SGC) parent declarations was provided earlier, but we have been informed that the deadline to declare has been extended to March 3rd at 5:00 p.m.
Chattahoochee's SGC has (1) one parent position up for election and is a 2-year appointment (2021-2022 & 2022-2023). Please consider getting involved as it totals approximately (8) eight meetings a year with a couple more commitments.
I thank you in advance for putting your name in the hat and declaring for the election. So, simply click HERE and get involved!
Partners in Education,
Dr. Mike Todd
Principal
Chattahoochee is honored to be named an AP Honor School for 2021!
This award recognizes the dedication of our school and district to ensure that students are prepared for college and career after graduation. It also highlights the hard work of our AP teachers and students as they challenge themselves with rigorous coursework, culminating with the AP Exam in May.

Changes to 2021-2022 Course Requests
At this point in our scheduling process, teachers have entered course recommendations for next school year (2021-2022), parents have been able to review those recommendations in Infinite Campus, and students have been able to enter elective requests. Now is the time when you can request changes to your student’s course recommendations!
First, log into the Infinite Campus portal (www.fultonschools.org/infinitecampus) and click on the Academic Plan tab. Check to be sure your student’s course recommendations will fill 6 year-long slots in their schedule for next year (can be a combination of year-long and semester-long classes). If you have any additions or changes you wish to request, please fill out this form: 21-22 Course Request Change Form. The form will close on March 5th at 4:00 pm. If after March 5th your student does not enough requests in the system to complete their schedule for next school year, courses will be chosen for them.
***If students plan to take a graduation requirement over the Summer to make room for a different class in their schedule next school year, the graduation requirement will stay in their recommendations until we receive confirmation of them passing the Summer course. Students in this situation should list their intended class for next school year under Alternates in the Academic Plan.***
School counselors will review the requests after March 5th and approved requests will be entered in Infinite Campus, so please check the Academic Plan for approvals. If any of your requests are denied (ex. due to placement guidelines, course prerequisites, etc.), then parents will receive an email from their student’s school counselor, so please keep an eye on your email inbox. Final schedules will be created based on the requests and released on Information Day in August.
Note about Dual Enrollment, Virtual, and Application Courses: students applying for Dual Enrollment, who have submitted the contract for Virtual classes, or who have applied for an Application Course (ex. Work-Based Learning, Office Aid, IDT/AP CSP) will still see their original Chattahoochee courses listed in their recommendations for the time being. Dual Enrollment, Virtual, and Application Courses will be added to the Academic Plan after the deadlines have passed:
- Dual Enrollment application deadline – March 31st – all directions and steps in Naviance (log into Classlink > Naviance)
- Virtual contract deadline – today, February 26th - see 21-22 Contract for Virtual Classes
- Application Course deadline – see Application Courses
Media Center-REQUIRED Device Replacement
REQUIRED Device Replacement Process for Microsoft Surface tablets:
- Fulton County is now ready to replace all Microsoft Surface tablets for 9th, 10th, 11th graders who are in F2F instruction. THIS IS A REQUIRED EXCHANGE. Your student will receive a Dell 3190 Laptop 2-in-1 during this exchange. If your student has a Surface pen, (s)he may continue to keep it as it is compatible to use with this new Dell model.
- Based on your student last names, they are to bring their county-issued Surface tablets and chargers to school media center during their lunch periods on the day of the refresh. If the student does not bring the Surface and charger together, no refresh will happen for the student.
- If your child has lost/damaged the charger, Surface pen, and/or keyboard, please take care of the $30 fine per item online at https://tinyurl.com/chsmsdevices prior to the day of your student’s refresh.
- If your child has damaged/lost the device itself (i.e. cracked screen), please take care of the $100/$250 fine online at https://tinyurl.com/chsmsdevices prior to the day of your student’s refresh.
- Remote students’ curbside-contactless replacement will start on 3/6 (Saturday) under the school bus canopy. If you are 9th, 10th, 11th graders who are remote with a county-issued Microsoft Surface tablet, check your Microsoft school email on Friday (2/26) after 4PM for a required survey to prepare you for the upcoming remote replacement process.

We invite you, other family members, friends, VIPs and members of the CHS faculty to write notes of congratulations to your son or daughter. We will collect these cards and notes for each student and distribute them before graduation. Every senior will be presented with a large Gold Envelope containing the collected messages as well as community giveaways. The notes and cards will be kept confidential until graduation practice.
