We will collect chromebooks/laptops and chargers on the dates below. Please encourage your child to look around the house for any extra chargers and/or technology that they may have accidentally taken home.

Middle School - Thursday, June 9 and Friday, June 10. Students will return their computers during their reading classes.

High School - Monday, June 13 and Tuesday, June 14. Students will return their computers during their English classes.

Students are responsible for returning the computer and charger that they signed out at the beginning of the year. If you find extra computers or chargers at your home that students have taken home accidentally, those should be brought to the main office as soon as possible.

The AAE Band Concert will be on Thursday, June 9th in our auditorium at 6pm. It is free, and all are welcome! You'll hear 6th grade to H.S. perform from Stevie Wonder, Bob Marley, Journey, the Beatles and more! Contact Mr. Pertesis (SPertesis@crec.org) for more information.

High-speed internet. Yesterday, the Biden admin revealed that 48 million low-income households will have access to lowered high-speed internet costs. As part of last year’s Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, 20 internet providers have agreed to either increase speeds or cut prices to $30 a month for households that qualify. President Biden says high-speed internet is a “necessity” and that the new plan will be fast enough for a family of four to work from home and do schoolwork at the same time. Elementary and Middle Schools

Last year, CREC offered Summer Learning Adventure for students entering grades 1-8. Summer Learning Adventure was designed to support students in their transition back to school after a period of remote and modified in-person learning. While CREC will not be offering summer programming this year, we will continue to compile learning resources that families can use at home over the summer, similar to these resources shared with families in 2021. We will also share information about any local camps that we come across. We wanted to provide this information early to support families with planning ahead.

Purpose of program: The Summer Youth Employment and Learning Program (SYELP) is a youth employment program, connecting Connecticut youth living in the North Central Region between the ages of 14 and 24 with career exploration opportunities and paid work experience each summer.

Participants have the opportunity to explore their interests and career pathways, develop workplace skills and engage in learning experiences that help in developing their social, civic and leadership skills.

By participating in structured project and work-based opportunities, Connecticut youth are better prepared for careers of the future.

The pre-application will be open until May 28th, 2022. We encourage you to apply early as this program has limited slots.

You will need a personal email address to register, such as Gmail. A student email address provided by your school cannot be used for this application as verification emails will be blocked.
