PTA Announcements
Our Read-A-Thon is halfway complete! Are your kids meeting their daily goals? The last day to record your daily reading is the 16th. The money we raise this year will help to pay for field trip buses next year. Thank you for your dedication and keep reading!
Arts Reflections submissions are due TONIGHT! Don't forget to submit your artwork!
SEED Announcements
SEED works for every student and family to feel respected, supported and represented at Sierra Madre Elementary School. Looking for ways to celebrate Hispanic Heritage? Check out the many Pasadena Parks and Recreation events happening through the month of October! https://www.cityofpasadena.net/parks-and-rec/community-event/latino-heritage-celebrations/ SEED would like to thank everyone who volunteered and participated in the PTA Fall Festival Dia De Los Muertos crafts and diversity book nook! Look out for upcoming resources to learn more about Dia De Los Muertos, the joyful Latino holiday that celebrates the lives of deceased loved ones. The SME community will have an opportunity to participate in the SEED Dia De Los Muertos altar built to honor departed loved ones and beloved pets.
Annual Fund Boosters (AFB)
AFB funds support SME's Library Coordinator and literacy!
The Library Coordinator oversees books in our library, helps students select appropriate books for age and reading-level, spends hours reading with kids every week, coordinates with PTA on the annual book fair, and adds to our collection regularly to ensure there's books for all students' interests. We have hired and will be welcoming our new library coordinator soon!
Thank you to the 152 families - that's nearly 26% - who have donated so far this fall.
The students of every participating family will receive a squishy mesh ball as a kid prize. AFB is pausing on distributing prizes during PTA's Read-a-thon; I will be handing out prizes again in November.
Our "All In For Fall" campaign goal runs until December, and our goal is 100% family participation to ensure we have the staff and programs SME needs. A suggested donation of $400/student (or $40/month per student) will help make the $220,000 goal. Please donate at https://bit.ly/2LzqUOL at a level that is meaningful to your family.
