Rise to Power
Cleopatra's family had been ruling Egypt for more than 100 years before she was born in 69 BC. After her father died in 51 BC, 18 year old Cleopatra and her 10 year old brother, Ptolemy XIII, took the throne.
Cleopatra fell in love with Julius Caesar and bore him a son named Caesarian in 47 BC but Caesar never acknowledged him as his son.
Achievements
Cleopatra built a military base for the caesarian forces led by Antony and Octavian during the Roman Civil war.
She tried to fight the Roman Empire by helping Marc Antony raise a navy against Octavian Caesar.
Caesar drowned Ptolemy XIII in the Battle of Nile and made Cleopatra queen again.
Cleopatra successfully governed her country and related with the people and was ambitious, bold, and confident.
End of Reign
In 30 BC Marc Antony heard a false rumor that Cleopatra had died and killed himself. When Cleopatra learned of this, she committed suicide by being bitten by a snake and poisoning herself, she died on August 12th, 30 BC.
After her death, Octavian executed her son Caesarian and annexed Egypt into the Roman Empire and ruled a prosperous and peaceful Roman Empire.
Love Affair With Marc Antony
In 41 BC Cleopatra began a love affair with Marc Antony, they had three children together; Ptolemy Philadelphius and twins Cleopatra Seline and Alexander Helios.
When Cleopatra learned of Marc Antony's suicide, she poisoned herself with the venom of a snake, because she could not bear the reality of his death.
